We spent 3 nights in early June with the intention of day hiking in the area. We found the hotel to be well located (right on the river and conveniently located to trails and the National Park Visitor Center ), tastefully furnished, and clean. We enjoyed the hotel's wellness pool and massage as well as access to the larger Toskana outdoor pool.

“Well-known hotel in scenic surroundings with outstanding staff.”

This hotel in the scenic "Saxonian Switzerland" is well known- and rightfully so. The location is right by the Elbe River, and the establishment offers wellness to the guests as well. This hotel in the scenic "Saxonian Switzerland" is well known- and rightfully so. The location is right by the Elbe River, and the establishment offers wellness to the guests as well. Due to its large size, the guest faces a warren of hallways.( Please look for the room numbers, or you'll get lost.)The rooms are comfortably equipped, however there is neither a water kettle nor a small coffee maker. There is a small fridge, which is helpful to guests, however our fridge did not function at all, and even though we mentioned it at the front desk, no effort was made to correct the problem. The bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom modern and spotless. We hoped for a restful sleep, but the curtains were more symbolic- neither room darkening nor did they fully cover the window. As a result the light shines in and wakes you up early.Breakfast is an ample and very varied buffet, where even the pickiest eater will find great choices. We were very impressed with dinner in the evening. Our group was served a wonderful menu, and the staff excelled as an outstanding, coordinated team that served everybody in a very friendly and yet unobtrusive way. High marks go to them , and of course to the work of the chefs.

The hotel is beautifully located with a stunning view of the Elbe, and the building itself is both charming and cozy. The location is definitely a big plus – you almost feel cultured just by looking out the window. Unfortunately, the service didn’t quite match the scenery. Out of all the hotels we stayed at during our trip, this was the only one that charged us a €120 fee because we forgot to add our kids as guests – even though it didn’t change the room rate. That felt more bureaucratic than welcoming. We were given one lonely bottle of water – regardless of how many nights we stayed – and there was no tea or coffee in the room. For a hotel in this category, that’s a bit like forgetting the pillow on the bed. All in all, it’s a beautiful hotel in a great location, but sadly the service didn’t live up to the setting.

“Cold and over-priced hotel”

We arrived at the hotel on a cold & rainy morning. We were greeted by a colder business-like front desk. Absolutely no early check-in when obviously the occupancy rate was very low. We arrived at the hotel on a cold & rainy morning. We were greeted by a colder business-like front desk. Absolutely no early check-in when obviously the occupancy rate was very low. When we finally checked in at 3 pm, we found the room to be clean but very small for the big price that we paid. Breakfast spread was limited but sufficient. Hotel was located right in front of the Elbe River. We did enjoy a long stroll by the banks of river when the sky cleared the next morning.
