The GZT provides a comfortable stay for those who need accommodation when visiting the university hospital. It provides modern, comfortable rooms, some of them meeting accessibility requirement for disabled persons. It is in close proximity to the major clinics, although outside the town it is connected by regular public transport. It is very good, if not excellent for what is planned, but definitely not a place to stay for fun. Getting to the hotel by car is a little bit tricky. Best is to enter the multi-storey car park, dive to the 12 !! level. From there one is more or less at the level of the hotel. Parking over night is free.

“Not a bad hotel - but it's in a hospital”

The place itself is an ordinary hotel, nothing more or less. But the fact that it's in a hospital makes it a bit weird. Of course if you go there because of that, it will be a very good place for you.

Stayed for three nights while at a conference. The guesthouse was recommended by conference organizers, and after having a quick look at the rooms (which looked spacious and modern) and reading that it was close to the city centre and Tubingen Univeristy, I made the booking. Should have probably looked at the website more closely. The rooms were indeed very spacious, clean and modern. In fact, my room was huge by hotel standards. Objectively, it is also not that far from the city centre, but since it sits atop a substantial hill, the climb to the hotel is pretty punishing. There is a public bus from the city centre, but it never seemed worth the wait. All in all, about 20-25 min to walk down, and 30-40 min to walk up a fairly steep hill (at a relatively fast pace). Having climbed up with my carry-on luggage, I was a bit surprised to see that the guesthouse was on the grounds of a hospital - again, probably should have looked at the website more closely. The guesthouse is actually housed on one floor of a medical building, with a windowless breakfast room and reception on the same floor - I had views of what looked like laboratories from my window. The reception is only open during certain hours - I happened to arrive over the long lunch break, so I couldn't check in for two hours. The whole experience was a bit frustrating, but once you get used to essentially staying at a hospital, it's not so bad. The staff, when they are there, are extremely nice and helpful - I had a problem with the company credit card on check out, and the manager was extremely helpful, arranging payment a few days later with my workplace. All in all, it's not bad if you know what to expect. But I would not necessarily recommend it if you're in Tubingen as a tourist, and plan on spending most of your time in the city centre.
