“Magical Tree House, Unforgettable Sunsets, and Mind-Blowing Birthday Details!”

If you are looking for a property that perfectly balances high-end, sophisticated design with genuine soul and impeccable care (and fair price!) Tongabezi Lodge near Victoria Falls is an absolute masterpiece. We chose this stunning lodge as the starting point for my 30th birthday trip, and it exceeded every single expectation. For travelers who appreciate a distinct, curated aesthetic and thoughtful hospitality, this place is perfection. The Tree House: A Design Masterpiece We stayed in the legendary Tree House, and it is easily one of the coolest, most unique places I have ever experienced. The architectural design and overall boho open air aesthetic were exactly what I was looking for. It manages to be completely open to the stunning nature of the Zambezi River while remaining surprisingly comfortable, private, and ultra-luxurious. Waking up and sleeping in that beautifully curated space was a highlight in itself—it has a sophisticated, airy elegance that is incredibly rare to find. A Once-in-a-Lifetime Birthday & Breathtaking Experiences The team at Tongabezi knows how to create unforgettable moments. For my birthday, they organized a dinner on the San Pan—a private floating platform out on the river. It was such a unique, intimate, and romantic experience that made the milestone feel incredibly special. To cap off the evenings, the river sunsets here are easily some of the most beautiful I have ever witnessed in my life, painting the sky in incredible colors. We also packed our days with spectacular excursions. We did a private helicopter ride over Victoria Falls(payed extra but organised by Brian), and it was worth every single penny—seeing the sheer, impressive force of nature from above is a true once-in-a-lifetime experience. We also did the Livingstone Island visit and the traditional Victoria Falls walk, both of which let you feel the true power of the falls up close. Even though this part of the trip was highly focused on the river and the falls, the safari element was a huge success too. On our very first drive, we were treated to a magnificent sighting of a rhino and her baby! Flawless Care and Attention The staff at Tongabezi are exceptionally awesome and highly attentive. They track every detail of your stay with a level of care that feels entirely personal. Furthermore, they handled my strict allium-free dietary requirements flawlessly, ensuring every meal was prepared safely without sacrificing the high-tier quality of the food. Emmanuel and Brian my thanks to you! The Verdict Tongabezi has captured our hearts. Between the breathtaking aesthetic of the Tree House, the attentive staff, the magical San Pan birthday dinner, and the sheer beauty of the Zambezi, it is a place I would go back to in a heartbeat. If you want a luxury experience with actual personality and flawless execution near Victoria Falls, this is the only place to stay.

“Lovely experience.”

We had a lovely 4 days at Tongabezi. All staff were very friendly and accommodating. Our butler Emmanuel couldn't do enough for us. Our guide, the food, everything was perfect.

“Stunning property along the Zambezi river”

Tongabezi was the perfect place to unwind and reset during our trip, and it ended up being such a memorable part of our adventure. My dad and I traveled together, and I booked the Dog House suite for us — which absolutely blew us away. The layout was incredible for a father-daughter trip because we each had our own private rooms connected by beautiful outdoor bridges with a shared living space and plunge pool in between. It felt secluded, peaceful, and incredibly luxurious while still maintaining the relaxed charm that makes Tongabezi so special. The accommodations were stunning. Honestly, you could happily spend days just enjoying the suite itself — listening to the river, relaxing by the plunge pool, and soaking in the atmosphere. After spending time in the bush, Tongabezi was the ideal place to recharge before our flight to Rwanda for gorilla trekking. That said, we still packed our days with activities because there is so much to experience in the area. Tongabezi helped us arrange an unforgettable morning where I jumped off the Victoria Falls Bridge, explored the Zambian side of Victoria Falls, did a little shopping, and then went to Livingstone Island for lunch — which was absolutely amazing. Everything was organized seamlessly and made the experience feel effortless. We also loved the sunset cruises on the Zambezi river, rhino tracking on foot, and a short game drive in the nearby park. There was a perfect balance between adventure and relaxation throughout our stay. A huge thank you to our guide, Phixon, who was outstanding throughout our time there. He was knowledgeable, professional, calm, and enjoyable to spend time with. He made every activity feel smooth and personalized, and you could tell how much he genuinely cared about creating a great experience for guests. He even joined us for lunch a few times! Aggrey, our valet, was also exceptional and somehow always seemed to be two steps ahead of us in the best possible way. Every detail was thoughtfully handled before we even had to ask. His attentiveness made our stay feel effortless and comfortable. We also really enjoyed getting to know Fred, the manager. He was so welcoming and personable, and we had several genuinely fun conversations with him during our stay. You can tell there is a strong culture of hospitality and care at Tongabezi that starts from the top and carries through the entire team. One of the most meaningful highlights of our stay was visiting the Elephant Café for lunch on our last day. Not only was the food incredible, but we were also able to interact with and feed the elephants. Learning their story made the experience even more impactful. These elephants were once used in tourism for riding, but as perspectives around ethical tourism have evolved, the organization transitioned to a far more ethical model focused on education, conservation, and respectful interaction. These elephants cannot be released into the wild, so sustainable tourism helps provide for their ongoing care. We appreciated how transparent and thoughtful the experience felt — the elephants spend a short amount of time interacting with guests and then are free to roam for the rest of the day. It felt like a genuinely responsible and meaningful way to experience wildlife interaction. Tongabezi struck such a rare balance between luxury, adventure, relaxation, and heart. It was beautiful without feeling pretentious, and every person we encountered made us feel genuinely cared for. It was the perfect chapter in an unforgettable trip with my dad.
