From the moment we arrived at the Sheraton Jabal Al Kaaba, it just felt… easy. Comfortable. Welcoming in a way that you don’t always get, even at really good hotels. We’ve stayed at various Marriott brand hotels over the years, but this has got to be the best one yet. We actually got there quite early, and we were fully prepared to wait around, but the staff were so accommodating and got us sorted without any hassle. That first impression really stayed with us for the rest of the trip. Check-in was smooth, and everything just flowed from there. The lounge access ended up being one of our favourite parts, it was such a nice space to unwind, and there was always something good to snack on. And the massage chairs in the lounge… honestly, such a thoughtful touch. After all the walking, it was exactly what we needed and something we ended up looking forward to every day. The food overall was amazing. Breakfast, dinner, even the smaller bites in between… there was so much variety and everything tasted really good. You can tell they put real effort into it. But what really stood out was the staff. They weren’t just polite, they were genuinely kind. A big shoutout to Hassan, Abdur Rahman, Najat, Najwa, and Darwesha. They went out of their way to make us feel comfortable, always checking in, always smiling. It never felt forced, just really warm, genuine hospitality. The room was another big win for us. It was beautifully set up, but also super practical. Having a washing machine and dishwasher made such a difference, especially on a longer stay. It just made everything feel easier and more relaxed. Housekeeping was great too. Everything was kept clean and fresh without us even having to think about it. Location-wise, it’s really close to Masjid al-Haram, which is exactly what you want. There is a bit of an uphill walk on the way back, especially after a long day, but it’s honestly manageable and didn’t take away from the experience at all. Overall, this stay just felt special. Not in an over-the-top, flashy way, but in a way where everything works, and you feel properly taken care of. It easily exceeded our expectations. When we come back for Umrah, InshaAllah, we wouldn’t even think twice about staying anywhere else. We really, really loved it.

The hotel is just a short, easy walk to Al Haram, which made my visit to the holy site incredibly convenient. Highly recommend this hotel for its great service and prime location!

I went into this stay with decent expectations, especially as a Titanium Lifetime member, but overall it landed as just “okay.” Prior to arrival, the hotel sent a welcome email asking how they could prepare for my stay. I clearly requested a double bed (as I’m travelling alone) and asked about a late checkout since my flight was at 1am and my car pickup was at 10pm. The response? “Subject to availability.” Fair enough, but it does make you wonder why ask in the first place if the answer is a standard deflection. It felt a bit like a scripted welcome rather than a genuine one. On arrival, I was given twin beds. So now I’ve got one as a “day bed” and one as a “night bed”, a bit ridiculous, but it is what it is. After tahajjud, I went for a shower and was met with freezing water. I reported it to reception, and the response was to “check again tomorrow and call us if it persists.” That doesn’t really work when your schedule revolves around salah, I’m not going to delay or compromise that waiting on hotel plumbing. Later in the day, after being at Haram from Fajr to Asr and completely exhausted, I returned to find the room hadn’t been serviced. I raised it, and to their credit they arranged housekeeping while I stepped out for Maghrib, but again, this should have been done given the full day window. Where the hotel really shines is the cafe and lounge staff, genuinely warm, attentive, and hospitable. You feel looked after there. Unfortunately, the front office gives a very different impression, more transactional, almost like “we’re here to check you in and out, nothing more.” I had actually booked a 2-bedroom suite here for October for my family. However, after doing 30,000 steps in a day, practicality wins, I’ve switched that booking to Marriott. While I do think Sheraton is the better hotel in terms of quality, the Marriott shuttle running every 5 minutes just makes life easier, especially with kids. Overall, an okay stay. Some strong points, but the basics and consistency need attention, particularly for loyal members who expect a bit more than just the standard script.
