“Ideal location for a relaxing stay in Anuradhapura”

Stayed with parents. The care taker is called Mangala. We stayed for 2 nights and had booked entire house - which is 3 double rooms. Food was excellent - we had vegeterian food and excellent Sri Lankan Authentic cooking. As many comments Mangala is a genueily good care taker. The lake was swimmable… lisää

Stayed with parents. The care taker is called Mangala. We stayed for 2 nights and had booked entire house - which is 3 double rooms. Food was excellent - we had vegeterian food and excellent Sri Lankan Authentic cooking. As many comments Mangala is a genueily good care taker. The lake was swimmable - there is a nice place to swim - safe - just 100m walk. The metal door was locked and cannot get in to the lake from the garden. A lot of birds visit the garden. This visit was during power cuts - daily 2 hour cut. But cool place and was not difficult to pass the time without being uncomfortable. If you want to have a simple vacation, be with the nature ideal location. Kudos to the owener for not spoiling the natural trees and for not over commercialzing the spot. You can just rela wacthing birds - many rare birds did visit (also some monkeys and peacocks). Note: there is no generator.

“Perfect spot for nature lovers, just outside of town”

Water's Edge was such a delight. The three bedroom bungalow is surrounded by a large garden and views over the lake to the temples beyond - amazing at night time when they're lit up. Mangala and Supun, the hosts, were fantastic and Mangala's cooking was incredible - some of the best Sri Lankan food… lisää

Water's Edge was such a delight. The three bedroom bungalow is surrounded by a large garden and views over the lake to the temples beyond - amazing at night time when they're lit up. Mangala and Supun, the hosts, were fantastic and Mangala's cooking was incredible - some of the best Sri Lankan food we've every had. The room was spotless. From the guesthouse it's easy to get a bus into Anuradhapura or towards Wilpattu. There's a large veranda with rattan chairs perfect for relaxing and watching the miryad birds and animals, including peacocks, mongoose and birds of paradise in the garden.

“Tranquil, rustic”

Lovely, as all the other reviewers said. Lake life, the stupas in the distance, and birds and animals can be watched right from the sitting and dining area. Lovely if you like small rustic personal experience kind of places in nature. Perhaps a little high priced for the services provided: for exam… lisää

Lovely, as all the other reviewers said. Lake life, the stupas in the distance, and birds and animals can be watched right from the sitting and dining area. Lovely if you like small rustic personal experience kind of places in nature. Perhaps a little high priced for the services provided: for example, the mosquito net is a great touch but had at least dozen holes (But there weren't many mosquitos anyway despite the recent rain and slight flooding in the area). And the internet connection of the wifi is very poor, and I got better internet by making a wifi hotspot from the mobitel sim card I'd bought at the airport on arrival in the country. The personally cooked meals were always great, and I very much appreciated the excellent fruit after every meal, and the free drinking water.

“Eco Retreat outside of town ”

Our agent booked this hotel for us so we were surprised to find out it was an eco retreat. If that’s what you are looking for you will find this place beautifully simplistic and tranquil. If you are looking for a central location with the home comforts you might need to reconsider as there is no tv… lisää

Our agent booked this hotel for us so we were surprised to find out it was an eco retreat. If that’s what you are looking for you will find this place beautifully simplistic and tranquil. If you are looking for a central location with the home comforts you might need to reconsider as there is no tv, limited WiFi and no pool (and no bar!). The staff are very friendly and endeavor to make your stay enjoyable, particularly as there are only 3 bedrooms to cater to.
