I had never been to Suriname and had to come for a two-week business trip. I was alone in a foreign country (aside from Country business contacts) and didn't understand the Dutch language nor the currency so, at first, it felt like a rather daunting experience. However, in no time at all I began to feel right at 'home' at Queens Hotel and I would love to share that experience with you here. I have traveled to many places around the world and feel I can speak with confidence when I say that, in my opinion, Queens Hotel is absolutely underrated. Here are some of the reasons why: Customer Service is beyond what you would expect for a hotel at this daily rate. The staff here want you to be as comfortable and as accommodated as you possibly can be and they pay close attention to listening to your questions or comments in order to make your stay as enjoyable as they can. They will always greet you with a smile and they conduct themselves with a degree of ethic and professionalism that can be found at much higher end hotels. They are very friendly and seem to really care about your opinion regarding your stay. Cleanliness is second to none. EVERYONE that I have chatted with here (during breakfast, etc.) all say the same things...the cleaners really impress with their attention to detail and the pride they take in their work. It was honestly a pleasure to return from my workday to such a welcoming environment. The rooms are really big, bright, clean, and has everything you will need for a very comfortable stay. A person who was staying here at this hotel (but usually stays at the one across the street when in this country on business) said he was really impressed with the size and the quality of his room and stated that they were "bigger and better" than the more expensive ones across the street and that he will book here from now on. The hotel even provides daily bottled water! Food: The breakfast buffet has so much variety. They have an omelette station, pancakes, cereals, yogurt, juices, several cheeses, many varieties of breads and even bagels and some pastries. Lots of fruit choices, veggies, and even fish and chicken. My list does not cover all of their breakfast items as I only highlighted some here. There is a restaurant on premises and it's located near the pool. It offers a variety of hot and cold choices (including burgers and fries) and the saoto soup is the best I've had. Wifi: I did have an occasional disruption in my internet connection but it only took a mention to the hotel staff and I got immediate results as their IT person was swift to make the adjustments I needed. Location: Queens is located in the heart of the tourist section of the city. You can walk pretty much anywhere and find no shortage of nightlife, restaurants, beautiful sights, and popular activities. For those who like casinos, there's one right next door. Ambiance and Esthetic: As you enter the building you are immediately greeted with an updated, clean, and 'professional' looking lobby that not only has 'work stations/computers' available for customers to use but is laid out and furnished in such a way that smaller 'meetings' occur here on the regular. You can easily bring your 'people' here for small informal meetings and you can feel proud to do so. It's a warm, welcoming, and, 'professional' space to sit and relax or conduct mini meetings. Lots of space to do so. Amenities: The hotel has a pool, a Jacuzzi and a gym. The gym has several treadmills, weights, chest press, bike, and even more. It's a very large room on the second floor that has windows, mirrors, and a really good flow of fresh air circulating so it doesn't feel stuffy or congested there at all. I have to say I felt safe and well cared for while I was a guest of Queen's Hotel and I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for quality, great customer service, and cleanliness that is hard to rival. My research into this hotel prior to staying here did not prepared me for the wonderful surprise I was met with as I stayed here. The owners and staff have worked incredibly hard to upgrade this hotel and wow, did it ever pay off!! I would highly recommend you to consider staying at the Queens Hotel if you visit Paramaribo as I feel assured you will not be disappointed but instead, you may indeed be even more surprised than I was.

“Top level customer service for a studio stay”

As it was our 50th independence celebration as a nation and so many activities and celebrations were happening around town and also soccer games of Natio (Suriname national soccer team) for the World cup, I wanted to stay in city center close to all the actions and stayed at Queens apartment, part of Queens Hotel, for the rest of my vacation in a studio which was spacious enough for me, clean and modern. I really had a good time, great staff from the reception to the breakfast and cleaning staff, even the security team was nice and had nice chats with the security guards. The breakfast was a modest buffet with Surinamese food, and as I don't eat meat there was always a choice of egg and a type of fish dish to have with my sandwich, also fresh fruit and juice every morning. The apartment complex is in the middle of the nightlife, right behind the famous bar 't Vat, so for some the noise and load music of the bars can be too loud and keep you from sleeping. To be a honest, I'm a light sleeper and any noise normally can wake me up, but the rooms I was in, the sound didn't bother me as much, it was not loud for me. The only improvement would be that the door locks with a keycard, instead of keys as I'm used to have keycard for my own home. For my next stays in Suriname, this will be my go-to-spot. Thank you once again everyone, grantangi!!! I knew almost all of the staff names, which I now can't remember all as I'm bad in names, but Ernesto, Claudia and all the others hope to see you next time again when staying there. You found in me a loyal customer, purely because of the top level service and customer service. I hope you like my tip box and that you use it (I gifted them a tip box with the first tip coming from me as during my whole stay I didn't see a tip box on the reception desk to give them a tip whenever you want).

“Nice and in the middle of town.”

This was the first time I stayed in the Queens Hotel in Paramaribo. When I told people I would stay in this hotel, people were asking why... The hotel has a not so good reputation, especially with local people. However, my stay was almost perfect. The room I had was spacious, clean and quiet. Even though the hotel is in the middle of the city, very close to lots of restaurant and bars, inside the room was quiet. I loved it and have different experiences with other hotels in that area. The AC in the room is big and can get very cold if necessary. The view from my room was not spectacular (blind wall), but you don't need a view from your room if you are so close to everything. My room was equipped with a small microwave, so I cold warm up small meals. It has been a long time since I had an actual room key, instead of a card. Well it worked, although I had to get used to lock the door. Breakfast buffet is simple but good, staff is nice. They will probably see me again.

The hotel seems to be undergoing some renovation, so the lobby is not the most attractive area of the hotel, but the room is very comfortable with powerful AC.
