“Not bad but 4-stars?”

Spent a couple of nights at the hotel. The location is good – only a few minutes’ walk from the train station. The hotel is not bad and I would certainly give it 3 stars. Spent a couple of nights at the hotel. The location is good – only a few minutes’ walk from the train station. The hotel is not bad and I would certainly give it 3 stars. But I don’t see how this hotel deserves 4 stars. The lobby is dull and empty. The staff seemed a bit bored. Upon arrival, the room was clean and spacious but the bathroom was old (and with no shampoo, body lotion etc. provided as I would expect from a 4-star hotel). During my stay only the bed was made. The room was not cleaned and not even fresh toilet paper was provided.

I had to call a number listed on the front desk phone to get a staff member to appear and check me in, and that was the last time I saw anyone at the front desk during my entire stay (including check out, as you prepay upon arrival and just drop your keys in a box upon departure). I had to call a number listed on the front desk phone to get a staff member to appear and check me in, and that was the last time I saw anyone at the front desk during my entire stay (including check out, as you prepay upon arrival and just drop your keys in a box upon departure). The hotel is centrally located and just a block from the train station, and my small suite was very comfortable, clean, quiet, tastefully decorated in modern art deco style, and reasonably priced. The breakfast available in the top floor dining room was more than adequate. So, I would rate this as a good place to stay based on location, room, and pricing -- but if you need a bellman, concierge, room service, or any service at all beyond housekeeping, this is not the place to find it.

Rooms need refurbishing. internet did not work. Hotel receptionists were not so friendly. Only person who was very nice was the lady taking care of the breakfast buffet. Price was too high: 188 CHF for one night.
