Summary: Very chic hotel with interesting modernist architecture, right next to the Swiss Paraplegic Research Centre (the Centre provide treatment and rehabilitation, so not technically a hospital but a rehab centre). If you are visiting Sempachersee or Notwil, this is a great hotel to stay at, because of the proximity to the Notwil seebad. Pros - Really friendly and helpful staff and housekeeping team, clean and spacious rooms, all the necessary covid arrangements, strong showers, quiet, good list of amenities as one would expect from a hotel, good breakfast buffet (thank you Chef!), most of the corridor doors are automatic (great for covid), beautiful grounds around the hotel (there are 7ft tall sunflowers!), state of the art 25m pool (it’s a proper swimming pool inside the Paraplegic centre, not a leisure hotel pool), restaurants are well priced and excellent, free bike rental to explore the area. Cons - In the summer the rooms are hot, we stayed during 2nd week of August when it was 37 degrees during the day. But you can request a fan and if you are not on the top floor, it should be cool enough by 11pm or midnight. Things to note - 1) this is definitely a hotel set up to cater for conferences (for the Paraplegic centre and other companies hosting events), so don’t expect a small hotel run by a family. 2) the hotel grounds is big, with rooms in different buildings, so if you are not fit you will get tired from all the walking but we enjoyed it. 3) guests have access to the 25m proper training/rehab swimming pool at the paraplegic centre. This is not a leisure pool for guests to have drinks at, so not for everyone. We loved it as we are both keen swimmers and swam 2.1km on a Saturday evening before dinner at the hotel. Tip for hotel and Notwil - - If you are staying during the summer, I think rooms in the GZI building is better because it is a bigger building with an airy courtyard inside the building and rooms are mostly East facing, so its cooler during the evening after sunset. - biking around Sempachersee is 21km and will take around 2hours on hotel bikes (City bikes), definitely worth doing! We recommend doing it clockwise because there are more bike lanes on the clockwise route. - bike up to "Staler hof und kultur" (10mins), to buy fresh milk direct from the farm and other farm produce. They only take cash on their 24hour vending machine. - Standup paddle at Notwil seebad is a must do in the summer. It’s super fun and easy to learn. - if you want to bbq by the lake, the nearest free bbq spot is Seepark Schenkon. They close at 9pm (but people stay later), so go earlier and get grilling. Overall we had a fantastic weekend stay at Hotel Sempachersee, we loved the uniqueness of this hotel and it served as a wonderful base for us to explore Sempachersee and the towns around the lake. “Great meeting place/ fantastic Restaurant and a unique open air kino”

We stayed for a 3 day meeting. The location & hardware are very good. Service was amazing, friendly and professional. The food a the Sempia Restaurant was fantastic. The Hotel Is organising a two week Open air Cinema and the Menu at the Restaurant is created according to the theme of the movie. It was amazing. This hotel was built as part of the Nottwil paraplegic Center. It is a nice modern building and all rooms attractively furnished and wheelchair accessible. Breakfast is in the cafeteria, quite a hike from the rooms, and offers plenty of options also gluten-free options. The reception is not well … lisää

This hotel was built as part of the Nottwil paraplegic Center. It is a nice modern building and all rooms attractively furnished and wheelchair accessible. Breakfast is in the cafeteria, quite a hike from the rooms, and offers plenty of options also gluten-free options. The reception is not well organized, it took 3 days and 2 phone calls to make a reservation. The hotel is just fine if you are attending an event at the center.
