We opted for Montagne Alternative to enjoy the mountains setting while avoiding the crowds in the ski resorts and we loved it. We chose to eat at the hotel's restaurant on the first night and to cook ourselves in the chalet on the other days. Given the village's location, it is recommended to plan all the meals in advance as there are no groceries options nearby (15mn by car to the nearest groceries store). The chalet was very comfortable and beautifully arranged with generous spaces and amazing views. The couple in charge was very helpful and friendly. We loved our stay and hope to go back there to enjoy the peaceful energy of nature.

I have been going to Montagne Alternative since many years with small groups of leaders, and have loved each and every stay. This is so much more than a hotel. It’s actually more like a boutique hotel designed in an amazing way to combine the century old barn architecture and the contemporary design and comfort. Imagine a little mountain village, with several barns and houses, all spectacularly well preserved and rearranged to cater needs of the most demanding clients. The setting is amazing, with breathtaking vistas over the valley, great views of the mountains and the intimacy of a rural cosy village. Montagne Alternative is an eco friendly boutique design hotel concept, characterised by the assembly of several barns, displayed close to each other in the village of Commeire. There is a central restaurant/breakfast place (the Agora), there are incredibly inspiring meeting rooms, there are some barns with steam bath, etcetera. The decoration of the barns, living rooms and bedrooms are all tasteful and with lots of natural products, and without disturbing and unnecessary high tech, television or gadgets. It’s comfortable and luxurious by its simplicity. The bedding is simply awesome and very comfortable. The food is excellent and very simple (which is different from basic!), often from local produce. What makes the place the most attractive, apart from the above, is the service and availability of all the staff. This is an ideal place to go hiking, go on a retreat or spend time with those you love. I have planned to go back several times. Montagne Alternative was the first Swiss small enterprise welcomed as B-Corporation.

Every aspect of my stay at Montagne Alternative was positive. I went with a group in April 2017 for a weekend yoga retreat, and was pleasantly surprised by how well managed and special this place was. The rooms are stunning (I got to walk around and see almost all of them. There wasn't a single one that didn't live up to the high standards). Some have better views than others, as well as a bit more space. They were comfortable and unique (beautiful textiles and woods) and contributed to the peaceful environment. None of the doors lock, which is part of the open and laid back approach. The staff were kind and welcoming and always available to support whether we wanted anything from hot tea to advice on hiking paths. The food was healthy, fresh, and delicious, and they generously catered to many different diets and allergies. It was very easy to arrive here from Martigny train station (with a driver to pick us up). We are already looking for excuses to return.

Serenity, calm, peace of mind, tranquility, well being, ... are synonyms to this magnificent resort with breathtaking views of the swiss mountains. Serenity, calm, peace of mind, tranquility, well being, ... are synonyms to this magnificent resort with breathtaking views of the swiss mountains. This is not your regular five stars chain hotel; this is a boutique hotel where all rooms are located in small bungalows with stunning mountain views. The rooms are not equipped with TV's nor Telephone sets: who needs them with this tranquility setting. For those who are internet addict there is a wifi signal covering the entire resort. Mountain walks is the main attraction, so if you are not physically fit you may find it a bit difficult to fully enjoy the place. Service is above excellent with a swiss attention to detail, an italian sense of hospitality with a French touch of elegance! Food is mainly bio. My favorite was the local honey that you can also buy from a local store on site!
