“OK but nothing special”

I've stayed here several times, as there are not that many decent hotels in Zug. City Garden is fine. Rooms are OK but be aware there are generally no bathroom doors and a glass panel between bedroom and bathroom (which I've never worked out how to make opaque, but perhaps it's possible). This time I got the last room as Zug was fully booked out. My room was larger than normal, with a small sofa as well as bed but for the cost (approx 400 CHF) it's not great value. One of the electrical points didn't work and I didn't realise so my laptop died mid-presentation, no robe or slippers (I'm not sure how much you have to spend before you get either of those), shampoo and conditioner feels like you're washing your hair in paint stripper and there was no restaurant open for dinner on a Wednesday evening (nearest place is The Park Hotel which is the sister hotel to the City Garden). It's not a long walk but I was in the middle of working on something for the following day and didn't want an enforced break.

Minimum amenities, older hotel with limited services. They don’t have guest services or ice machines. If you need ice, must come downstairs to reception since there’s only one staff member during evening hours (9pm) so no room delivery. Heating unit doesn’t work despite thermostat adjustments. Minimum amenities, older hotel with limited services. They don’t have guest services or ice machines. If you need ice, must come downstairs to reception since there’s only one staff member during evening hours (9pm) so no room delivery. Heating unit doesn’t work despite thermostat adjustments. There are no artwork or paintings in rooms so it looks like you are living in a college dormitory. While the staff is nice, quiet neighborhood, and room is clean, I would opt for their sister Park Hotel next door, for future visits. It’s also 15min walk from Zug center.

“Noisy airco”

The room is new, clean and conformable. Front desk staff was also great. Unfortunately the air conditioning system is very noisy and turned on and off all night. I could not sleep because of this. I would unfortunately not book again for this reason.
