Butler Hotel... Leisure Hotel... Plaza Hotel... It goes by many names, but the fact is this hotel is brilliantly located just 5 minutes' walk from the city train station. The rooms aren't fancy, but the beds are good, the bathrooms are decent, and the WiFi is terrible. They've cut back on some things, but the price is very low. Only one pillow on the bed, only one towel per guest, and no hand soap. However, there is a free washing machine and dryer; you just need to pay a small fee for detergent. The breakfast is decent, especially the Asian options—come at 9 am to make sure you get something. All in all, the hotel is good value... whatever its name might be.

The hotel in Taichung is probably the nearest hotel from the Taiwan Railway Administration (TRA) Station which is a 5 minute walk away. We stayed in a 4 person room which was comfortable, although it had no windows which gave a pale look. Other than that, everything was functional and adequate. The… lisää

The hotel in Taichung is probably the nearest hotel from the Taiwan Railway Administration (TRA) Station which is a 5 minute walk away. We stayed in a 4 person room which was comfortable, although it had no windows which gave a pale look. Other than that, everything was functional and adequate. The hotel is in an excellent location as there are plenty of eateries and shops around and is very close to key attractions such as Miyahara store. Within the hotel itself, it is labelled as "Butler Hotel" which is the new name of the hotel, while the fixtures on the exterior of the hotel still shows "Plaza Hotel" which is the old name.

5 minutes walk from the Train Station at Tai Chung. Room is clean but small in size. Location wise, it is quite far from the night markets and attractions. It is also located at a road intersection. 5 minutes walk from the Train Station at Tai Chung. Room is clean but small in size. Location wise, it is quite far from the night markets and attractions. It is also located at a road intersection. The room that I got on the 8th floor has the hotel signage right outside of the window which is bright at night but with the blinds drawn its okay. Booked 2 rooms. In one of the rooms, safety ledge on the door is spoilt and the hotel used some double sided tape to stick it on. Feedback to the hotel concierge and they came to the room to look at it but couldn't provide a solution. For the other room the power sockets at the bed side were not working at all. Recommended to venture more into the city and stay somewhere more centralized unless if you need to catch an early morning train out.
