“Amazing staff, great food and outstanding service in a beautiful rail themed setting”

We stayed here for 5 nights on a great Luxury Escapes deal. This hotel is amazing! It was the last destination on our South East trip and having stayed at 3 great hotels so far, our hopes were high - and we were not disappointed. We did have a couple of issues on our 1st day but the GM (Bertrand) and his staff sorted them quickly and we were delighted with the service. We were in one of the quiet rail carriages overlooking a lake and the room was superb, with a large comfortable bed, large deck area and outdoor bath. We had dinner included and as we were staying 5 nights we were allowed to pick from a larger à la carte menu rather than the more limited set menu that was included as part of our deal, which was very much appreciated. The food and service were excellent and we had one of the nicest green curries we have ever tasted. (A tip to other westerners - we like hot spicy food in the UK but be aware that is more like medium spicy here). Breakfast is buffet style with a huge choice and you can have eggs to order and again the food and service was excellent We also thoroughly enjoyed our evening drinks in Papillon (the bar in one of the rail carriages). It is wonderfully dark and atmospheric with a lovely deck outside to sit on and watch the colours develop as the sun goes down. Couple of tips - if you are planning on visiting the park (as we did),make sure you go mid week as it’s much quieter. We booked our trip through the hotel - which admittedly is a little pricier - however we are glad we did as we had a superb day spotting lots of wildlife (gibbons, hornbills, snakes and a bull elephant) with our guide Ken. One other thing to note is - the site pool is heated and never busy. We have been fortunate to stay in some great hotels over the years - but we are struggling to think of any where the welcome and service has been as genuine and warm. That kind of behaviour isn’t widespread so a massive congratulations (and thank you) to Bertrand and his team for making us feel so at home. We would recommend this hotel and return here without hesitation.

“One of a kind hotel.”

Intercon Khao Yai is a really unique and special hotel. Just three hours north of Bangkok, it is a great respite from the city. The staff were friendly (shoutout to Fae in SomYing, Watchoi (he was everywhere) and Pimm in the spa. The hotel is themed to a railway and is expertly designed. The resort… lisää

Intercon Khao Yai is a really unique and special hotel. Just three hours north of Bangkok, it is a great respite from the city. The staff were friendly (shoutout to Fae in SomYing, Watchoi (he was everywhere) and Pimm in the spa. The hotel is themed to a railway and is expertly designed. The resort had some great extra activities, like fishing and tours of the nearby national park. Dining in Poirot in the railway carriage was also memorable. Highly recommend.

“Fun Nights Stay”

Fun nights stay at the train themed hotel - I think the award on the wall in check summarises the hotel "....top 100 Asia instagrammable hotel".... the rooms are fun but the novelty soon wears of after squeezing around the bed and sitting on the uncomfortable bench seats - everything feels crampe… lisää

Highly recommended for a fun short stay but not a long relaxing holiday. Pool and bar was very small and seats and tables in bar area piled up with towels from people using the pool, restaurant was ok, breakfast ok, staff ok, kids club staff excellent. Overall it was OK ...

“Unique concept, but rooms feel too small”

I really appreciate the concept behind InterContinental Khao Yai Resort. The design is very creative and different from typical hotels. The restaurant is also beautifully designed and a lovely place to spend time. That said, the rooms were not really for me. They felt quite small and a bit cramped… lisää

I really appreciate the concept behind InterContinental Khao Yai Resort. The design is very creative and different from typical hotels. The restaurant is also beautifully designed and a lovely place to spend time. That said, the rooms were not really for me. They felt quite small and a bit cramped, and the layout made it feel more like staying in a tiny house rather than a hotel room where you can comfortably relax. While the design is charming, I personally wished the rooms had more space. Overall, it’s an interesting property with a distinctive theme, and I can see why some people would enjoy it for the novelty. But if you prefer more spacious hotel rooms, this might not fully meet your expectations.
