“Very relaxing time”

Very relaxing break at this establishment. The rooms (not sure about the glass doors to the toilet facilities though!!) were very clean and the staff were extremely helpful. Very relaxing break at this establishment. The rooms (not sure about the glass doors to the toilet facilities though!!) were very clean and the staff were extremely helpful. The spa/wellness facilities were very good with different levels of heat/minerals in the pools. It was described as having 17 pools, but in reality it less but larger pools are sectioned, but this of course is not an issue. There were buffet menus for breakfast and dinner (2 sittings I believe last one at7pm). The food was varied and tasty. If you think however you require snacks outside breakfast/dinner please bring with you as I didn’t notice anywhere available on site to buy anything. There is a bar however on site for coffee, drinks and there was an ice cream freezer too, and also a bit of live entertainment for the guests whilst I was there.

“Beautiful view, but disappointing service”

Location is absolutely beautiful, however accessibility in general/for disabilities wasn’t a top priority when the hotel was built. Reception staff is not very friendly or welcoming . The behaviour of the pool bar staff and the sauna bar staff is outrageous, not kind or attentive. The whole place feels like a money grab, no hospitality at all. Such a disappointment.

“It has a lot of potential”

This is a nice hotel right next to the mineral water springs, which is the area known for. You can see the cascades from the spa-pool area. This is a nice hotel right next to the mineral water springs, which is the area known for. You can see the cascades from the spa-pool area. However, it is impossible to get close to it to take proper pictures. For that, you have to go around the whole hotel area - down to the parking lot and around, about a mile and a half - to see it. The parking of this hotel is a joke. The parking lot is about 1/2 a mile down, than you have to walk- climb! - up in the middle if the road to get to the hotel. You can pay for parking on top, but there were no spaces available ever. I'm not sure how some elderly or challenged mobility people do it. They should at least have a transfer to bring up people. Same issue to go down to the spa/pool area. There is 2-3 stories of stairs to get to the pools. After looking for it very hard we find some elevators that took you up one floor, then you have to find another one to take you to the lobby, then you take the main elevator to your room floor. Only the lobby elevator has signs to find... The people were nice, the food was good. Enough variety for everyone to find something. International and Hungarian cuisine mixed. The rooms are nice, they all have a view of the mineral spring site. The shover and toilet is interesting, because it does not give you 100% privacy. It is partially - mostly - frosted, but bi-directional swinging doors. Some people find this uncomfortable, specially if you don't know your roommate that well..:) Overall we had a great time. Fortunately I am not physically challenged, but I was thinking to take my elderly mom there for the "healing waters", I may look around in the area for alternatives.

We had a mixed experience at Saliris Resort Egerszalók. On the positive side, the hotel is still very clean and well maintained. The pools are spacious, and even though the hotel seemed to have quite high occupancy, the pool area did not feel overcrowded. The wellness area and saunas were in very good condition and met a good standard. The staff were very helpful, kind and accommodating throughout our stay. Unfortunately, there were also several negative points. The mattresses were extremely soft. Both of us woke up with back pain in the morning, and even a person weighing only around 50 kg sank deeply into the mattress. The hotel also feels like it has already passed its best years. It is not quite as luxurious as it tries to present itself in its PR materials. Updated information about the opening hours of the sauna and wellness areas was not available in the room, so we had to go to the wellness area or reception to ask. The telephone in the room was not working. We had half board. Breakfast was rich, tasty and varied. Dinner, however, was rather disappointing. The food was acceptable, filling and reasonably tasty, but quite average, with too many fried options. It was definitely not a gourmet experience. Parking is a real problem, although this is partly due to the hotel being built on a hillside. Parking a car with a bicycle rack was very difficult. There was also no proper place to store bicycles. The helpful staff allowed us to place the bicycles in the luggage room near reception, but that room can only fit two or three bicycles at most. Overall, the experience was mixed. The thermal pools, saunas and wellness area are certainly worth visiting, but the hotel itself does not fully match the price it charges for the stay.
