We could not have asked for a better hotel experience in Colonia. First off, the staff, Cristobal and Cecelia specifically were extremely responsive to questions before our arrival and assisted us with dinner reservations and booking of a wine tour in Carmelo. We could not have asked for a better hotel experience in Colonia. First off, the staff, Cristobal and Cecelia specifically were extremely responsive to questions before our arrival and assisted us with dinner reservations and booking of a wine tour in Carmelo. We had room #1 and it was like a dream. Spacious, clean and beautifully appointed. Stone walls and beamed ceilings let us know that we were truly in a historic building. This room is ground floor facing the "main street" of the old town. We were there slightly off season and during the week, so foot traffic was not an issue for us. This small town goes very still after sunset when the day trippers head out, so evenings were quiet for sleeping. The hotel also has a very good bistro and our dinner there was fabulous. When visiting Colonia, the magic is found while you wander the cobblestone streets, check out small local museums, duck into quaint art galleries and cafes and end your day with a gorgeous sunset over the river. Spend a few days relaxing at Charco in Colonia, you will not be disappointed.

“Wonderful Hotel and amazing staff”

The Hotel is just lovely, beautiful views of the river and perfect location for walking around Colonia. We had the white balcony room which was beautiful but what really stood out was the wonderful staff, so warm and caring, my husband fell and cut his foot really badly and the staff went above and… lisää

We had the white balcony room which was beautiful but what really stood out was the wonderful staff, so warm and caring, my husband fell and cut his foot really badly and the staff went above and beyond looking after him and calling a Doctor, I cannot thank them enough for their care, so genuinely lovely. We only stayed one night but really enjoyed the meal we had here, a very charming small hotel and the perfect place to stay to see Colonia. I will never forget the kindness of the staff, big thank you to you all.

“Loved the location”

We had a great time here, staying overnight and having dinner and breakfast in their very popular beautifully located restaurant right on the water. There are one or two small teething issues pointed out by other reviewers, but we would recommend staying here for one or two nights without hesitatio… lisää

We had a great time here, staying overnight and having dinner and breakfast in their very popular beautifully located restaurant right on the water. There are one or two small teething issues pointed out by other reviewers, but we would recommend staying here for one or two nights without hesitation. The hotel is exactly where you want to be for this wonderful historic small town and if you have a car, the immediate area is also fun and interesting. We drove from Montevideo which was fun and easy; the majority of visitors come over on the numerous easy ferries across the River Plate from Buenos Aires
