This was one of the nicest hotels out of 12 hotels that we stayed in during our Uruguay travel, only beaten slightly by Regency Park Hotel + Spa. For Uruguay, it's rare to find an all inclusive. We came in the off season with few guests, which meant that the all inclusive was a la carte. The restaurant served very good food and we were always happy with what we got. In particular I want to mention the breakfast, which was one of the best we tried in Uruguay, even bordering to healthy (by serving nice, freshly made, integral bread and lots of fruits). I don't know why, but virtually the entire population of Uruguay and most of their restaurant shuns healthy food, some places the breakfast is a true disaster. Fortunately it wasn't the case here at Colonia West, where they even served bacon and scrambled eggs (although of varying quality). The hotel was nice and modern, had a lot of activities like a small cinema, table tennis, child care, XBox 360 and PS3, computer room, billard room, football field, outdoor pool and an indoor pool. Our room was modern and nice, but not spacious. In particular it had a very nice rainfall shower and a nice cupboard where we could actually fit and access our big suitcases. The service was nice in general. Only one of the receptionists (probably leading/managing) seems to be comfortable with English, but we got along with our limited Spanish. So overall we were very satisfied.

“Quiet and kind”

Just a rare quiet place, at the beach side and near the san Francisco creek. Nice place, kind attention, just perfect for a family holiday. Conchillas town is an old British factory, and the old wharf is the best fishery of Colonia shore.

Me and my husband came the forth time to this hotel. Is relative close to our home and we had the oportunity to enjoy 3 days at this place. Me and my husband came the forth time to this hotel. Is relative close to our home and we had the oportunity to enjoy 3 days at this place. I have to say honestly that three and a half years ago was reallllly nice with a nice buffet, good offer, good condition everything. We had a great time and was pretty good everything. I was a bit disappointed the third and forth time (when I came December 2019 and January 2020) and i will mention below some points: - when we came at the reception to make the check in and we mentioned in the conversation that we just got married, the personel didn't sense the idea even to congratulate us. - the morning buffet is not for European foreigners who like diversity of healthy food - there were too many cakes, marmelade, dulce de leche and only one type of cheese and one type of ham, with some fruits. - Horrible coffee!!!! Seriosly, my advice is not to serve it at all instead of serving this. Our family who came with us from Denmark, Norway and Italy complained about the quality of the coffee as well. I am very tolerant, but it was bad. - In January, the forth time, we had a simple , duble room but with very very very bad bed, very very hard. We couldn't sleep so well the first night and we asked at the reception to have maybe an extra maitress and they said will talk with the cleaning personel, but nothing changed. Horrible bed, bad sleeping. - at the dinner, on the 4th of January 2020, the meat was overcooked. what a pitty!!!! they had entrecot, chicken breast and pig muscle - very nice food in principle but is was destroyed. It was dry and tough. - the Bar and restaurant personel were nice - stop promoting this ''Show cooking'' - it doesn't make any sense!!!! The word ''show'' it means that you do something special or you present something really different than ordinary routine. The show cooking at Colonia West is just a guy called chef that puts food in a plate, simple , ordinary….. This can be done by anyone. My suggestion is to remove this activity or improve it. The foreigners don't understand this ''show cooking'' and I think is also ridiculous. - Paulinho, the person in charge of the animation team, really tries to make a nice time for the guests and his activities that we partipated or saw like: fishing, walking and dancing are really nice. He is funny, well behavied and for sure gives value to the money paid.

“Lower than average”

It's a pity that the poor maintenance of the hotel does not match the warm hospitality of all the staff (except for the cheff, rude and moody not only with customers but also with his partners).
