My brother and I stayed here for a week while visiting our dad who lives in the area. It’s a great location just off the Rambla. The room was small but we didn’t need more than what it was. Balcony in our room looked out into the street just over the hotel cafe and a great view of the sunset over the beach. We had 2 single beds. They were small but pretty comfortable. The fridge was useful and the shower worked pretty good. It was nice having a few things for breakfast but it was the same thing all 7 days which got a bit boring. It’s so close to the beach but the didnt have any beach towels we could bring with us which would have been nice. I loved that they had water coolers out so you could refill your water bottles. The chairs outside the hotel at the cafe are pretty comfortable. And the wifi worked really well most days. This was the first time in a long time I haven’t had anyone at a hotel speak English. It is a pretty small beach town resort so I guess it’s to be expected but if you dont know Spanish it could make it a bit more difficult. We had a good stay here.

“Nice hotel at great location”

The hotel is really nice, quiet and tidy. It got a small indoor pool and a solarium. Free wifi and a nearby parking lot are available. Breakfast is great and the staff is very friendly. The hotel is really nice, quiet and tidy. It got a small indoor pool and a solarium. Free wifi and a nearby parking lot are available. Breakfast is great and the staff is very friendly. It was really nice to lie down on the outdoor couches and listen jazz in the afternoon. It's located in a great area, less than a block from the beach. There are a lot of restaurants and shops around.

The Rex is a charmingly old-fashioned hotel just off the Rambla de los Argentinos, which runs along the waterfront. It was spotlessly clean and comfortable, and the staff were particularly helpful and friendly. We didn't use the indoor pool, as the weather was excellent and the beach was nearby, but we enjoyed the excellent buffet breakfast. The hotel's public areas – lobby, lounge, restaurant – are airy and comfortable, and the WiFi signal in our room was excellent. We also appreciated having a full size fridge. Piriápolis is a lovely and intriguing town, developed in the late 19th century by a Uruguayan magnate, Francisco Piria, whose vision was to create a resort that would rival those found in Europe, and the place retains a vaguely French feel. There are plenty of bars and restaurants, and the Ramble de los Argentinos is very lively in the evenings, with tango dancers, street entertainers and local artisans selling their wares on the pavements. It's infinitely more civilised than the hideously over-developed Punta del Este, which is an hour or so away by road.

“Good place”

Old build but very clean quiet, there a swimming pool for the clients, and a solarium. Excellent breakfast, and the service very good. Good beds and confortable rooms. Near the beach, amazing city, near of a small mall of artesian works and presentations

The hotel is not bad, but there were a few disappointing moments. On our first day, my husband had to kill a giant cockroach in our son's bathroom. After that, there were no more insects in the room, but the staff used insecticides the smell of which would linger on for a long time in the whole roo… lisää

The hotel is not bad, but there were a few disappointing moments. On our first day, my husband had to kill a giant cockroach in our son's bathroom. After that, there were no more insects in the room, but the staff used insecticides the smell of which would linger on for a long time in the whole room. The room smells of tobacco, and the guests are allowed to smoke on balconies. There is no separation between the balconies, so it is practically unusable if you're a non-smoker. The hotel staff is doing their best, but things like these can really put you off.
