We stayed at this hotel the night before a procedure at the hospital. Our room was upgrades to a suite. It was a wonderful room on the bottom floor with a sliding door (which had a safety bar). We stayed at this hotel the night before a procedure at the hospital. Our room was upgrades to a suite. It was a wonderful room on the bottom floor with a sliding door (which had a safety bar). The doors opened to a beautiful courtyard with flowers and a fire pit. The bathrooms was small, probably due to being an older hotel. Next time we are in the area I will definitely stay at this hotel.

“very good stay”

My husband and I struggle to find a hotel with consistently good service in or near downtown Birmingham. I regularly take early morning flights to see my mother and we live an hour away. My husband and I struggle to find a hotel with consistently good service in or near downtown Birmingham. I regularly take early morning flights to see my mother and we live an hour away. I don't drive well in the dark so we stay near the airport for a quick early morning ride. This hotel nearly met and even exceeded out standards on many fronts. We love having the balcony to get fresh air. Far too many people -- even ones who smoke outdoors -- leave the smell of cigarettes in hotel rooms and it's not helpful to anyone who is allergic to smoke like I am. This was a very clean room with fresh air and I loved the upgrade to a suite. The downsides? Well, the woman working at the eating area needed help. My food was room temperature by the time I got it. I didn't complain because she was clearly overwhelmed. Also, the refrigerator in my room was so high, the yogurt I got to eat the next morning was rock hard! Thankfully, the front desk person let me switch it out. But all in all, this is an excellent hotel. I even loved the sounds of the children playing in the pool. You will feel safe here and there are lots of dining options nearby should you not want to pay for the food which is a bit wee, or high, like most hotel food. Still the service was great. My hats off to the workers in this hotel for dealing well with what most businesses are dealing with: small, overworked staffs.

“$10 a night parking fee!”

I was shocked when upon checking in that they now charge $10 a night for parking. usually hotels charge for parking if they are located downtown. This hotel is not close to downtown! I was shocked when upon checking in that they now charge $10 a night for parking. usually hotels charge for parking if they are located downtown. This hotel is not close to downtown! I would not stay here again because of it. There are many other hotels in the area that don’t charge an extra fee for parking.

“A Whole Lot of Hallway”

The service at the hotel is excellent . The footprint of Courtyard Marriotts, both generally and at this particular property, is a problem. Honestly I am a little over the square design with a courtyard in the middle. I get that Marriott can’t exactly tear them down, but… maybe they can? It is a… lisää

The service at the hotel is excellent . The footprint of Courtyard Marriotts, both generally and at this particular property, is a problem. Honestly I am a little over the square design with a courtyard in the middle. I get that Marriott can’t exactly tear them down, but… maybe they can? It is a tired floorplan with too much hallway, the carpets are worn down from all the traffic. I was at this hotel for 3 nights, which was a lot of walking up and down the hallways given my hotel room was on the other side of the square from the hotel entrance/reception area. Location is ok – there is a Whole Foods-like grocery and Target across the street, but it is a busy area and you sort of feel you’re taking your life in your hands by crossing the street on foot. Room is in good condition. Tired lighting.
