We stayed at this hotel since it was in close proximity to The Biltmore Estate and also because it was a Hilton brand. We stayed at this hotel since it was in close proximity to The Biltmore Estate and also because it was a Hilton brand. Little did we know that this hotel was at the heart of the hurricane Helene devastation from nearly 2 years ago, which made us very sad and sorry for the citizens of this area. Surrounding the hotel, you could still see visible remnants of the flood devastation that Asheville endured. The buildings around the hotel are severely damaged, and there is mud and flood debris still all over the place surrounding this hotel, and business are boarded up and closed. The hotel has an open air parking garage underneath of it on the street level. You cannot enter the hotel in through the lobby. You have to enter the hotel through the parking garage and go up an elevator to the next floor, where the check-in desk is. The workers were very friendly, but they also seemed kind of sad. Our hotel room was decent. And when my husband opened the curtains, our window overlooked more devastation, flood debris, mud, destroyed buildings. It really made us sad during our visit. We felt so bad for Asheville. A lot of the businesses in the area never came back into operation. We felt good that we were putting money back into their economy at least. The breakfast in the morning was great actually and they had real dishes and silverware. When we asked the front desk to cancel our second night, as we decided to cut our trip short to only visit The Biltmore Estate, it seemed like they were quite used to other guests doing the same. All we can do is hope for the people of Asheville that they are able to rebuild.

We have stayed at the hotel many times in the past. The hotel was ravaged by Helene. A year after the storm, no apparent attempt to restore the grounds adjacent to and around the hotel has been made. We have stayed at the hotel many times in the past. The hotel was ravaged by Helene. A year after the storm, no apparent attempt to restore the grounds adjacent to and around the hotel has been made. Weeds were as high as our knees and no grass has been planted or trees. One of the two elevators was not working. We usually exit the side doors using the stairs. After we arrived, someone put stickers on the side doors saying an alarm would sound and not to open. No alarm went off and we continued to use since only one elevator was working and we always used the stairs and exits in the past since they were and are more convenient.The carts to transport our luggage from our car to our room was filthy. The kitchen sink in our room did not drain properly and there was debris at the bottom of the drain that we did not want to try and remove.The carpets in the hallways and room were not clean and look old and worn. The halls and rooms and garage still smell like mildew. The hotel still clearly has a long way to go before it is back to any resemblance of its past self prior to Helene.
