This is not your average box Holiday Inn Express. It is a great building, nice high ceilings, wide hallways, good lighting which makes for a welcoming visit. This is not your average box Holiday Inn Express. It is a great building, nice high ceilings, wide hallways, good lighting which makes for a welcoming visit. The rooms, beds, and pillows comfortable for a nice sleep. The only drawback was the breakfast. It was not the normal Holiday Inn Express breakfast because someone dropped the ball and didn't order food, so we did not have their tasty cinnamon rolls, yogurt, cereal or oatmeal. I'm sure they will get that figured out. I understand that the hotel is under new ownership as of this month so hopefully they will keep up the high standards.

This was our first time to Charleston and we chose to stay in the Mt Pleasant area for convenience and because the hotel had good reviews and stated it had been updated. First the people at the front desk were kind and helpful. Check-in was smooth. Upon entering our room... I went to open the blinds... Only to find that both the blackout blind and the sheer blind were not working. I asked to be moved, and that took place with ease. The room itself was average. The sheer blind was missing completely, and the blackout blind temperamental, so we were extra careful. When the room was redone, it looked like it was done very sloppily. The paint bled over to places it shouldn't, the wood casing around the windows had chunks out of it, two of the plugs would barely hold our charges in the socket and the carpets were stained. The beds were fine comfort wise, but nothing special. The breakfast was good... Standard IHG breakfast with multiple options. The lady restocking breakfast was incredibly kind and a delight. Overall... The hotel experience was average. The best thing about the hotel was the staff, their kindness and helpfulness.
