I traveled to Eureka Springs for a brief, solo trip to unplug for a few days. The 1905 Basin Park was a great choice for me. The rooms were clean, the staff was friendly, the restaurant was good, the wait staff was attentive, and the spa was amazing. As a historic building, the rooms are smaller, but well-maintained. I stayed on the Spa floor, and it was very quiet and peaceful. The hotel provides several options for daily activities that are free or with a minimal charge. Check these out early, because some of them have limited seats available and fill up quickly. Some items of note: The hotel parking lot is about a 5-minute walk from the hotel. The hotel provides a shuttle service that is very prompt and the drivers are friendly, but as a first-time visitior, I was not prepared that there would not be an unloading/loading area at the hotel entrance for check-in/check-out. Other than the loading/unloading, the "inconvenience" that some travelers have noted is really very similar to using a valet service at a metropolitan area hotel. The downtown area is not for early risers. Few establishments open before 9/10 am, even those that serve breakfast. However, this is a great time to explore with minimal crowds. The hotel provides shuttle service to its sister property, the Crescent Hotel and Resort. Take advantage of it and tour the property, grab a gourmet pizza on the balcony, enjoy the pool area, and take in the beauty of Eureka Springs.

“The room itself was a disappointment”

Great location, but our room was a disaster. The decor was tired, the carpet was dirty and stretched out, our shower had very little water pressure and there were bugs all over the bathroom. We really enjoyed our time at the basin, except for the part that was spent in our room. That part was unbea… lisää

Great location, but our room was a disaster. The decor was tired, the carpet was dirty and stretched out, our shower had very little water pressure and there were bugs all over the bathroom. We really enjoyed our time at the basin, except for the part that was spent in our room. That part was unbearable, sadly. The location is fantastic and we don’t even mind the inconvenience about the parking situation. I would never stay there again though because of the room and the sleep.

The only real positive statement I can make about the Basin Park is the location in the middle of the historic district. Charming to my wife and I it was not. Very old and outdated. The only real positive statement I can make about the Basin Park is the location in the middle of the historic district. Charming to my wife and I it was not. Very old and outdated. Did not use the spa so can’t speak for that. Our room (suite) was large but did not look at all like the pictures online. Lumpy sofa that we put a towel over to sit on. The windows did not appear to have been cleaned in years! A/C looked like window units. Old Venetian blinds - one was tangled up and didn’t lay flat. Threadbare curtains - some you couldn’t close bc they caught on the rod. We opted to include breakfast only to find out breakfast was at a bakery next door that didn’t open until 9am! They charged me an Activity Fee of $19.50! Did not get a clear answer what that covered (Wi-Fi?) but they refunded it to me when I called about it. The staff was friendly. The town itself was disappointing to us. Old and run down with junky souvenir shops and dilapidated broken sidewalks making it difficult to walk for anyone with the slightest mobility issues. I am not usually so negative and critical.

This hotel is very well located! You are close to downtown and most of the main shopping areas. Parking is offsite but once you got through the hassle of dealing with the traffic around the hotel to get unloaded it was ok. This hotel is very well located! You are close to downtown and most of the main shopping areas. Parking is offsite but once you got through the hassle of dealing with the traffic around the hotel to get unloaded it was ok. The Shuttle to go places and to the Parking Lot was always very quick and accommodating. But?! With any unique and historic hotel- there will be a few hiccups. The Elevator is very slow and there is only one. If you are on a lower floor and are able to-- walking up would be easier. We had a room on the 5th floor so always opted to walk down instead of waiting. But usually had to wait to go up. While I enjoyed the higher floor? Be aware if there are any events or sets up for the 6th floor Conference Areas? You will hear all the movement of tables being moved on your celling. Chairs being dragged around, just noisy. (We were part of the conference so I know it was set up and not any of the Hotel's Ghostly Guests;) ) Also the corner rooms facing the outdoor pavilion allow you to see the comings and goings, but you can hear the music from outside. Not a big deal. Just be aware it can be loud. Also once we settled into our room, the next morning we were surprised by very loud construction work. While updates are needed and expected. This should have been disclosed to us prior to settling in our room. It was loud! They did offer to move us and did give us some compensation but had the hotel been full there would not have been the offer to move. Again- always nice to have a heads up. Also? The only guest Ice Machine was out the 5 days we were there. Not a huge deal, but it was hot and I love my ice. Most of the Staff was nice. Overall the hotel was fine. It was a little dusty everywhere, but I found that to be true about most of the Places in Eureka Springs. Lots of flies too- but it was summer. (even some IN our room but we killed them.)
