I traveled to Honolulu often for work, but this was my first time at the Renaissance. Every part of the stay was delightful and restful, which is so valuable when you are traveling far for work. “Good place to come back to when you're touring Oahu”

Very nicely located. all sorts on shopping and eating places within walking distance. rooms are clean and very comfortable. big bed. i got a corner room with views of the ocean. Staff are cheerful and helpful. Limited dining choices in-hotel. but the amenities are unexpected but most welcome.

This was our third time staying at the Renaissance, unfortunately we didn't get off to a great start. After checking in early we were told our room would be ready at 3pm, we were not offered an option to use the hotel pool while we waited. At 3pm, once our room was ready, we went up to our room, as we entered the room we found a maintenance man working on the curtains. He asked us to come back once he had finished. We advised front desk who kindly moved us to another room. The room was large and had a lovely view. The room had tea and coffee making facilities. However the cleanliness of the room was below par, there were things spilt on the wall and cabinetry. The pool area is fantastic and relaxing, with a large pool and also a 25 metre lap pool. The location of the hotel is convenient and across the road from Ala Moana Centre. The hotel also has a shuttle bus that departs every two hours from 10am to 8pm, and stops in Waikiki and Magic Island. Buffet breakfast was included in our package at Sera Restaurant, however it was underwhelming. I would not pay $35 USD for this breakfast. After staying at the Prince Waikiki, with their buffet breakfast also being $35 USD, the Renaissance buffet breakfast is not comparable. This hotel is great and has so much potential to be one of the best, however there are some issues that need to be rectified, particularly their accounting systems. We booked a Luxury Escapes package which included a daily resort credit to use at the hotel restaurants. On checkout there was two pending transactions on our credit card each with the value of $500 USD, we were advised that there would be no charges to our credit card, as we had pre paid the package and did not spend over the daily resort credit. Therefore the pending transactions were a hold and would fall off. However, when we returned home the following day, $577 USD had been charged to our credit card, this transaction was not pending. This amount should not have been charged, as the daily resort credit covered this amount. This is very frustrating, with the conversion rate fluctuating on the credit card. We are still monitoring our credit card transactions to ensure this amount is credited back to our credit card. We have no confidence in the hotels accounting systems, there are serious accounting issues at this hotel. It could be much more accurate and efficient, the Prince Waikiki is a gold standard example. Be sure to check and monitor your room charges daily, as well as your credit card transactions after you check out. We stayed at this hotel six months ago and encountered similar issues.
