“It's ALL Here - Location, Comfort, Views, Gracious Hosts”

Be sure to call and book directly with Gavin and Laura. We wanted to stay for a week, didn't see availability, but when we called and talked to Gavin he said they also have the Tower in the Trees, sometimes used by traveling nurses, but it was available for a week when we wanted to come. Honestly, I think we had the best space for us. There are about 14 stairs to climb up to the top, and what a view! Privacy, breezes - we were a little concerned that this room had no air conditioning but it was not needed at all, in fact it was cool enough that we did not even need the ceiling fan some nights. We even had our own gecko, we called him Harry like the one in the British show Death in Paradise. We loved hearing the coqui frogs and birds, soothing sounds, and wind through the trees. We had not been to "rainy old Hilo" for years, and we had just a few sprinkles, but umbrellas are provided for guests. The accommodations are lovely, well decorated and spacious. We did not use the pool, hot tub or grills, but had we stayed longer and not had such a "to see" list we would have. Other reviewers have shared details about amenities; with a longer stay in Hawaii we really appreciated being able to use the laundry facilities, which was also a nice place to chat with Laura. She gave me a tour of the other rooms once guests had left, they are all very, very nice. There are fruit trees on the well-manicured property, we were told to help ourselves - the tangerines and oranges were so sweet! It's only a few minutes to drive in to Hilo to restaurants and the Farmers Market, and we did that - but one day we headed the other direction and found Laupāhoehoe Park, a beautiful place for a picnic and the site of a moving memorial to the school children and others lost in the 1946 tsunami. Booking directly with the hosts allows flexibility in rebooking if you have an emergency that impacts travel plans, plus it is just nice to talk to Gavin and Laura. We would not consider staying elsewhere near Hilo.

“Great for Couples!”

We stayed here for 5 days in the off-season, and the owners (Laura & Garvin) were wonderful hosts and very helpful to have as resources during our visit. “A tropical getaway to remember”

Likely, the most relaxed vacation we've ever experienced. We arrived in the evening and were immediately greeted by the nighttime songs and conversations of the tropics. “Amazing place to stay!”

Such an incredible spot! We loved all of the little details. Very peaceful but super close to where you need to be. Adjustable beds were heaven! Will definitely visit again! The owners couldn't have been nicer to us from start to finish, A++.
