“Better than expected breakfast!”

We were traveling with a school tennis team for a weekend tournament in the area. We had trouble finding rooms due to an event the same weekend even though we booked several months in advance, but found this property and were thankful we did. We were looking for a reasonable rate, clean property, proximity to our competition, indoor pool and breakfast. The rate was a bit higher than I would have expected but was on par for what we were seeing in the area. The hotel was great to work with us on our tax exempt status however and did process all charges correctly to remove that which is a big savings for us as a public school - and a headache for them as I didn't indicate the number at checkin, so they had to reprocess all of the rooms the next day. The property was clean. We had an issue with a smell in one of the rooms that was quite unfortunate and they quickly worked to find a resolution. It wasn't ideal, but big shout out to the gal on the night shift when we stayed - she worked her magic and even helped me make the sofa into a bed for the girls as they didn't have another two queen room. Proximity to our event, ease of parking and access to the interstate and dining was great. You can get there from Indiana without having to cross the toll bridge! We ended up being exhausted after our competition, so nobody swam but there was an indoor pool. The breakfast was awesome and several commented on the variety being above par for a hotel of this size and classification. Several warm options sausage (both turkey and pork!), biscuits, gravy, oatmeal, scrambled eggs, egg whites, and an on demand pancake machine that was a big hit. Lots of pastries, yogurt, fruit and drinks. We had let them know the time we planned to be there and everything was well stocked and ready to go and the gal working it wished us luck at our matches:) The property was good, but the staff overall was great.

“Decent stay”

Staff at front desk were okay but not over welcoming. Hotel room was nice. Beds were very comfy. Pool was extremely cold, had a smell to it, very gross scum around the edge of the entire pool and no towels. Breakfast was okay- pancake maker was broke most of the time, they would make it work for on… lisää

Breakfast was okay- pancake maker was broke most of the time, they would make it work for one and then would quit again. Entire time there the juice was out and needed a refill, tables never got wiped down- breakfast area needed attention.

“It was fine”

My girlfriend and I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights while visiting family in my hometown. It was reasonably priced and provided reasonable accommodations, but fell short in several details that I would expect at a Holiday Inn Express. Hotel is in a very nice location. My girlfriend and I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights while visiting family in my hometown. It was reasonably priced and provided reasonable accommodations, but fell short in several details that I would expect at a Holiday Inn Express. Hotel is in a very nice location. It is in a nice residential neighborhood, walking distance from a gas station and Waffle House, and a longer walk or short drive from several very cool restaurants in downtown New Albany. It is also very close to the interstate and a 5-minute drive from downtown Louisville. The room itself had a very comfortable mattress and pillows. Wifi was a reasonable speed. A microwave and mini fridge were present. Breakfast had quite a few options, including several hot choices. A few moderate concerns detracting from our stay: 1. The heat unit was sometimes difficult to operate and sometimes struggled to maintain a consistent temperature. 2. The shower water temperature was very dependent on water use throughout the hotel. That is, water could start at a normal temp, then become scalding midway through shower. 3. The bathroom exhaust fan was obnoxiously loud, but also quite ineffective. 4. While the pillowtop mattress was very comfortable, the sheets and mattress pad were not designed for pillowtop mattresses, and slipped off repeatedly during our stay. 5. The juice machine at the breakfast area was out of order for our entire 3-day stay. On the last day, the breakfast attendant also seemed more interested in jamming out to extremely loud music in the kitchen rather than refilling potatoes and sausage. 6. The bottom of the window heat unit appeared to be rusting and was quite unsightly. Bottom line: I would stay here again, but will also probably try the Hampton Inn across the street to see if they can do a bit better with the details.

“Great location, but needs work”

Despite the website description, this hotel did not feel “new” at all. The public areas and elevator were not clean, the window shade would not raise and the air conditioning unit was very noisy. The bathroom should have been cleaner. We have stayed at other HIX locations that were not like this.
