We enjoyed a few days visiting the wonderful redwoods and spent cozy nights at the Benbow Inn. The atmosphere was warm and we were treated like family. We gathered in the living room, played cards and enjoyed cocktails at the bar and several wonderful meals in the diningroom. Christmas was a perfect time to visit; the halls were decked with holiday decorations and the Christmas carolers were a lovely surprise.

The room 212 we just stayed in from October 18-20 had a bathtub shower combination. The smooth floor bathtub needs to have a floor mat in it to keep your foot from sliding when stepping in. The room 212 we just stayed in from October 18-20 had a bathtub shower combination. The smooth floor bathtub needs to have a floor mat in it to keep your foot from sliding when stepping in. It was frustrating to step into the tub only to have my foot slide on the floor towards the back wall of the tub which caused my other leg to slam into the outside of the bathtub. Having to go down to the front desk to ask for a floor mat for the tub when it should of been in the tub from the beginning needs to be addressed for safety issues. For the price of the room per night, a bath mat should have already been there and not have what looked like rust stains on it when unrolling it in the room after getting it from the front desk. Slipping on the floor of a bathtub is quite common. A sidenote: Thanks for having scones and tea complementary downstairs each day, but how can you enjoy that service if you were only there for a single night since it's only available between 3-4 p.m. and check in is at 4 p.m. which means you just missed it and check out is at 11 a.m. which means you are not a guest anymore. We had scones two out of three days since the first day we already missed it since it stops at 4 p.m. Everything else was fine at Benbow Inn.

“Expensive and a bit tired”

For the money spent this is not great value. It is a historic structure but would benefit from refurbishment. I paid $325 for a "Premium Queen." This meant I got a little more space, but the wingback chairs promised in the description were not present. One bedside lamp only worked if you jiggle… lisää

For the money spent this is not great value. It is a historic structure but would benefit from refurbishment. I paid $325 for a "Premium Queen." This meant I got a little more space, but the wingback chairs promised in the description were not present. One bedside lamp only worked if you jiggled the switch. The buttons on the heating controls were very worn. The windows also did not shut fully. The pub/dining room was overwhelmed (likely a combination of Valentines Day and President's Day weekend). My dinner consisting of Shrimp and Grits and a beer cost $50 and was very slow to be delivered. There is also a $25 "resort fee." There were no facilities which seemed to justify this. To park I had to go across the street to a dirt lot. Finally, I found the staff to be a bit abrupt and unprofessional. There was no attempt at wearing any form of uniform. The historic building has tremendous potential, but a lot of work needs to be done to bring it up to the level which is being charged.
