We chose this hotel because it was at the ideal stopping point after a trip through Death Valley on our way to Sequoia National Park. The town itself has seen better days. But the people are exceptional and the customer service from this hotel staff was exemplary. It was like a little oasis in the middle of a dusty, western town. The room was comfortable, and everything worked! The breakfast was pretty standard, but they did have a yogurt machine, which was a nice surprise.. Everything was very clean and maintained. We chose this place because of the great reviews. I rely heavily on TripAdvisor reviews and this one was very accurate. We drove out of the way to get here and we are glad we did.

“Unexpectedly Great Hotel on the Edge of Cal City”

We stayed overnight here while most of the extended family were camping a few miles away in the desert. The hotel was clean, upgraded, nicely furnished and equipped, a real pleasure to return to after a day in the dirt. We stayed overnight here while most of the extended family were camping a few miles away in the desert. The hotel was clean, upgraded, nicely furnished and equipped, a real pleasure to return to after a day in the dirt. We were at the tail end of breakfast, so we missed waffles, otherwise it offered a nice selection of breakfast options. Our fellow travelers were likely also most interested in getting back out to off-road adventures so everyone was quiet. Bed was great. Will definitely come again when the family camps out.

“Best Western made me love California City”

Best Western introduced me to the caliber and values of most people I met in California City! So good was the first days experience that when given another job in Bakersfield the next day, I rebooked 60 miles from the next job at the same Best Western!

“Tired… but great breakfast”

The lifts were broken so we had to lug our bags up stairs. The helpful receptionist assisted us though. The room had a very tired carpet and sofa bed with stains on (which I was told was like sleeping on a bed of nails). The bathroom was nice though. I was erroneously checked out of the room as the hotel thought I was part of a large early-leaving party. I hear others speak to the desk about the same thing. Very poor. Serves one of the best complimentary breakfasts we had on our road trip. Fruit, eggs 2 ways, waffles and good cereal options. Overall could do with an update but options are limited in Cal City
