It is set on an incredibly quiet road in an incredibly quiet part of the world. In fact, even though it's not right on the beach, you can hear the ocean. This is a great place to stay if you just want to escape.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. Dog friendly hotel with areas to take them out on site with clean up bags. We had a room with 2 queen beds for my granddaughter and me. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Dog friendly hotel with areas to take them out on site with clean up bags. We had a room with 2 queen beds for my granddaughter and me. Mini fridge with frozen items shelf, microwave, coffee maker, popcorn maker with bowl and popcorn. Beds are good, soft pillows, spotlessly clean and spacious room, and soft clean towels. Toiletries provided, too! Breakfast included: hard cooked eggs, coffee, pastries, hot and cold cereal, fresh fruit, waffles, bagels and fixings for them. Very quiet location near a supermarket and lovely area to walk the dogs nearby, as well. Reasonable prices. Lots of memorabilia from the Pebble Beach Pro Am from the past, and a motorcycle that kids can climb on. Nice hot tub. Ice and vending machines on site. Quick hop to 17 Mile Drive and Monterey, Fisherman's Wharf, and all the golf courses. All in all a great stay and Id' go there again!

“Nice place to stay”

We stayed here for 3 nights as part of a Californian road trip. The environment here is relaxing and natural. One afternoon we saw deer, squirrels, a woodpecker and hummingbirds from our balcony. You will need a car to get around as it a 5-10 minutes drive from downtown Monterey. There was a wood fireplace in our room although we did not use it. If you are into them it would be cosy, particularly in winter. Breakfast was basic but adequate. The staff/owners were very welcoming and friendly.

Pros: I loved the beautiful location, close to the beach, across the street from Asilomar, in a forested setting. I loved that there was a real fireplace with aromatic real wood, newspaper for kindling, and matches. The wine social was delightful. Everything was clean and appropriate for the setting. The staff was pleasant and helpful. Cons: I always like a hot breakfast, as is the norm these days with most hotels. There were do-it-yourself waffles, which are tasty and fun, but no hot eggs. We went downtown for a lovely breakfast but settled for those waffles and cold hard boiled eggs one day. If steep outdoor stairs are a problem for you, I suggest making reservations for a 1st floor place well in advance. We didn't. The fireplace, lovely as it was, had a note that said to leave the damper as-is, but apparently the folks before us didn't pay attention as we had a room filled with smoke and we had to open a window and the front door. Having said that, staff mentioned we should have called them and they'd have remedied the situation, so I expect it wan't the hotel's fault.
