This review is for titanium elite members. I went to Sacramento for the first time this past weekend. We met some family at the train museum in Old Sacramento on Saturday (Fantastic Musuem!) and went white water rafting on the American river on Sunday morning. I chose this hotel based on the intermediate distance between the two. My experience was wonderful here. We arrived Friday night and was happy to see there was an Italian restraint on the first level, so we didn’t have to go anywhere. Food was decent, prices mid-level, service was great. The room we got was on the 9th floor and very quiet (I’m not sure if it was an upgraded room, it did have a sofa and it was a comfortable size). The breakfast buffet was quite large- several hot items, fresh fruit, juices, pastries. I was most impressed with Lisa, one of the managers. We had to leave early Sunday for rafting, I called the night before about breakfast and Lisa let me go to Starbucks the next morning instead to pick up some items since we wouldn’t have time for the buffet, which was really helpful. We never got to use the pool but it was nice looking with waterfalls. We never got to see the lounge, either. This hotel location was great for both rafting and downtown, and we were close to the outlets so I got to go back to school shopping for my son. All in all, the hotel was extremely quiet, the staff was very accommodating, breakfast was excellent, and location convenient for my purposes. I will definitely stay here again.

“Breakfast”

Hotel appears to have gone through a renovation. Clean rooms and hotel areas. Staff could be a little friendlier and more efficient. Parking lot spaces very tight. Hotel could use purell station in the Club Lounge. The wipes in the lobby were dry. Great buffet breakfast!

“Major Flaw”

The only reason I cannot/would not rate this hotel higher and/or recommend (in the summer months, anyway) is because of the restrictions of the in-room thermostat/temperature setting. Seriously, a Marriott that does not allow you set the temperature where you want it? This Marriott has a hard stop… lisää

The only reason I cannot/would not rate this hotel higher and/or recommend (in the summer months, anyway) is because of the restrictions of the in-room thermostat/temperature setting. Seriously, a Marriott that does not allow you set the temperature where you want it? This Marriott has a hard stop at 68 degrees and the AC appears to be on a timer where it cycles on and off constantly for short periods of time (the same amount of time all the time) without ever staying on long enough to truly cool the room off. The room was clean but not sparkling, the staff was great and the lobby areas, etc are nicely done. Rooms are giant which was great. The waitress working the breakfast shift both days we were there provided spectacular service and the food (buffet) was edible. Bartender in same restaurant late afternoon/early evening not the best. Some cocktails has almost no alcohol and some tasted like pure firewater; none of them were good. Anyway-my advice to this joint is to charge me an extra twenty bucks a night and let me set my own room temp. I won't return because of the restricted thermostats and would not recommend it to anyone else.
