We had a fantastic stay at Monterey Beach Hotel. The views alone are worth it—waking up to the ocean right outside your window is hard to beat. The location is perfect, close to everything you’d want to do in Monterey while still feeling peaceful and removed from the crowds. What really made the experience stand out was the service, especially from Sheevani. She went above and beyond to make sure everything was taken care of and made us feel genuinely welcomed throughout our stay. That level of attention doesn’t go unnoticed. Overall, this was one of those stays where everything just came together—great setting, great location, and exceptional service. Would absolutely come back.

Definitely a beachfront property, the beach is just a few feet away and if you love the sounds of crashing waves get a room that faces the beach. As a platinum card holder there’s some perks (ie food/drink credit, room upgrades) that can help minimize your annoyance of knowing the other mandatory fees they incur (parking + resort fees). We enjoyed our daily breakfast at the Lantern House, the food is quite good. We booked during the midweek but it was quite busy, perhaps the children are starting their spring breaks already. The hotel is new but the actual building is not, seems like they just remodeled the interior and made some exterior changes to reflect the modern nautical theme. However, the rooms are already starting to show wear and tear, which is unfortunate. The rooms are small but good size for 2 persons. The bathroom is tiny, and I’m petite! It’s not a quiet hotel because there’s the sound of the waves due to the proximity of the beach, foot shuffling in the walkways, or if the restaurant is above your room, and the occasional smell of cigars/cannabis, which I believe is not allowed on the premises but who checks? I just put on earplugs and slept well (the beds are soft and the pillows do become flat). It’s one of those destinations that having experienced once is enough. And, if you love the water, book it! Staff were friendly. Close proximity to Carmel, downtown, and just 40 minutes from Big Sur.

I absolutely love this hotel, the sound of the crashing waves, and the view from my room while I worked was spectacular! I was here on business and decided to stay an extra night. The complimentary wine pours and restaurant service from Kimberly was exceptional. Night after night she greeted us with a beautiful smile. Thank you to the ENTIRE staff that was there 3/18-3/21. I'd like to just make a small recommendation: it'd be nice if there was some pressure washing of the stairs✝️

“Not worth a second trip”

Overall the property was nice but the room was small basically a studio minus any kitchen (there was a mini fridge). The walls aren’t very thick so you can hear your neighbors. Overall the property was nice but the room was small basically a studio minus any kitchen (there was a mini fridge). The walls aren’t very thick so you can hear your neighbors. While having the upgraded ocean view with sofa was nice you can’t actually see it from your room unless you walk onto the walk path outside the front of your room. With the walking path directly in front of your room also you have other hotel guests walking by and seeing into your room so we basically kept our windows covered the entire time at the hotel. The price for Parking which is added on top of the already high price didn’t make me feel any better. If you want a hotel with beach access this is it but if you want a room to see the ocean from you room this is not the one.
