We don’t even know where to start. Everything from the personable and warm welcome we received when we got there. The complementary bottle of wine that was in our room for my girlfriend’s birthday. The room was gorgeous and the art deco decor was beautiful. We both commented that we also felt like that may have been the most comfortable bed we have ever slept on in any hotel. In addition to the hotel itself, which really was wonderful on every front, the city of Visalia is such a quaint welcoming town. Everyone was so warm and friendly. We really had a lovely time.

“Great Get-Away Hotel in Central California”

Not everyone thinks to come to the California Central Valley to “get away” from other places due to our well known hot summers, however during Spring and Fall months the weather here is quite nice and a hotel we love to stay at when there is good concert at the local Fox Theater in Visalia is the Darling Hotel. Last night we saw the Wallflowers who, by the way, are the most under-rated yet amazing band from the 90’s, and opted to see to stay at the Darling and have dinner at the Elderwood on the top-story patio fine dining restaurant with gorgeous view of the downtown area. Nearby and plentiful street store shopping and food/drink establishments are all walking distance while not being right next to the hotel so you don’t feel like you in a crowded business district is quite nice. The hotel itself is a remodeled art deco building that I believe was formerly a city or county government building so has an odd entrance that makes you feel like you are going to the hall of records. When you get inside, however, it has been remodeled very tastefully. We weren’t looking for an expensive room so stayed in their more moderately priced rooms in the ground floor but if you are there for a major anniversary event you may want to choose one of the more intermediate 2nd, 3rd or 4th floor rooms. That it is not as tall as the nearby Marriott is it’s appealing charm. We have stayed here twice now and will be back again I’m sure for a future concert and getaway!

I had a great stay at The Darling Hotel. The property itself has a really cool vibe, clean, stylish, and well put together, but what stood out most was the service. The front desk team was welcoming and professional from the moment I arrived. A special shoutout to Yesenia, who went above and beyond to make sure everything was smooth. She was attentive, friendly, and genuinely cared about making the stay a good experience. Overall, the combination of a well-designed hotel and strong customer service made this an easy place to enjoy. I’d definitely stay here again.

“A wonderful birthday stay”

Our dinner at the Elderwood was excellent. Our room was super clean and very comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. We loved everything.
