“great stay”

Spent one night for a surprise birthday party for my sister's 60th. Everything was fantastic. I worked all night the night before and needed a quiet place with a comfortable bed. Home run staying here and breakfast was fabulous. No complaints and would stay again.

Stayed here for my son's graduation and could not have been more pleased. The building was very rustic. Our room, Rusty's, had a king bed, split bathrooms and vaulted ceiling. The stair were a bit steep but not difficult. Rain pelted the roof a couple of nights but did not interrupt our sleep. The television selections were sparse but cable was available in the main living room. Breakfast each morning was delicious. Christina does a great job in the kitchen. We had pancakes, veggie frutata, and bacon and eggs on various days. The fruit dish, biscuits or scones and orange juice were great additions. Francois is amazing. He was everywhere from taking our reservations to checking us in at our midnight arrival to serving breakfast to chatting about his gardening work (with Coco). He is truly a professional in the hospitality business. We will certainly return. The Inn is convenient between Chapel Hill and Burlington and it was a short drive into Mebane for dinner one night. Lots of parking close to the entrance area. It is out in the country to it is very dark before sunrise and after sunset. The swing on the patio is a nice place to relax. Walking the grounds is a fun adventure. Will certainly return.

“Clean and comfortable”

Nice bath linens and robes. The glass covered wall sections allowing you to see some of the original construction is unique. Unfortunately we did not have much time to get to know the owners and we had to hit the road before breakfast so the review is limited tot the room itself.

“So much amazing potential”

We were looking for a place to stay near the location of the Sunshine Lavender Farm the weekend of June 10 and 11 (look them up on line at Hurdle Mills. What a fun experience)! We found other bnbs nearby were full, so we decided to try this inn. We were fortunate enough to get a room just a couple of days ahead of time. This historical and rural place is incredible; especially for a retired teacher! I love the idea! Staying in a school! The grounds were beautiful. So many places to sit in nooks and crannies (but take bug spray). Play a French yard game. The breakfast was delicious (ham quiche, melon and scones). The evening snack was nice. I only wish two things: #1: the host was personable. He didn't want to talk. He answered questions politely and after a very brief explanation of the property said," ...and that's the tour." And indeed, that was it! No chance to ask questions or to find out about the mementos on the walls or the many nearby buildings other than to read a brief explanation left in the room in a notebook. I think it is possible that we just don't know something that was concerning him, but we were so wanting to know more about the inn and felt put off. #2 I understand that old places are hard to keep clean. The room was large, the bed was wonderful; linens and bed comfortable and the room seemed clean and authentic. The problem was the bathroom. There were bugs under a basket in the bathroom, around the windows, and near the tub. This was the deal breaker for me, and the reason why I had to give the inn and room 1801 a "3". I love b and b's and inns. This one is loaded with history and potential. It just needs some touches to make this a "5". The history here is amazing! Even after everything, I am glad we had the chance to stay here.
