“Good option for Pocono events”

We stayed at Hotel Anthracite when touring our Pocono wedding site, and booked a room block here for our wedding, and had our rehearsal dinner here. It was one of the only large hotels within 20 minutes of our wedding venue, so we didn't have much of a choice, but we were very happy with the hotel anyway. The service is friendly and fast, the food is good, and the rooms are large and clean. While there isn't much to do in Carbondale, everything there is to do is on Main St, where the hotel is. This is also generally a good spot for a Poconos vacation if you don't want to stay in Scranton proper, but you don't want to be way out in the sticks either. Overall, this is a good place to stay, and we would stay again.

“Nice place to stay.”

In town for a family reunion, and chose the Anthracite for our base. The hotel is very nice, covered parking in the rear, large well-furnished courtyard in the center. In town for a family reunion, and chose the Anthracite for our base. The hotel is very nice, covered parking in the rear, large well-furnished courtyard in the center. The room was clean, 50" TV , large closet, desk, refrigerator and microwave. I was kind of surprised that there was no phone or coffee maker setup, but we bring our own Keurig with us, and we both have our own phones, so not a big deal. The hotel is located in the old coal-mining section of northern Pennsylvania, and it shows. At the bar, and on the restaurant tables are jars filled with small chunks of coal, pictures of some of the coal mining era that my Grandfather and Great-Grandfather worked in "back in the day" adorn the walls in the hallways. Desk clerks, wait staff, cleaning crew and maintenance guys were all nice and helpful. We had an issue with our TV at 9:30 one night, and they had it fixed in a few minutes. As a place to stay, I would have given it 5 stars, but for the food in the restaurant. Overall it was . . . average. Breakfast was the same each day, and the same as most hotels. Dinner was nothing special. But there are other places nearby to eat, and Uber is available In closing, I think we would (will) stay here next time we're in the area.

“Classic Hotel”

We were here for one night for a 50th birthday at AJs bar "around the corner". Lovely lobby, bar, courtyard and location. We were here for one night for a 50th birthday at AJs bar "around the corner". Lovely lobby, bar, courtyard and location. We booked a double room with a seating area and it was actually a handicap room on the 4th floor, so there was extra, extra space! The bed looked out over the mountain part of town which was lovely to wake up to. There was a full length mirror, refrigerator, microwave, and pull out couch in a separate area than the bedroom. Our room was next to the electrical closet so we heard and felt some vibrations in the morning, but we were already up so it didn't affect us. The hot buffet breakfast was nice. We appreciated that there is a private parking garage. I would recommend this hotel and would stay here again.
