There is a lot of potential here, but they need a new manager who knows how to master the fundamentals of hotel management. The pros: (1) the architecture and room design are much more interesting than more modern hotels and give it a lot of character, (2) the staff were generally friendly if a little frazzled, and (3) the location is nice if going to the arena or other downtown events. The cons: (1) we received a text and an email warning us there would be no elevator available during our stay, with a request that we reach out if that would be a problem. Multiple replies through text and email asking which floor we were likely to be on were ignored. We had a nice room on the 3rd floor, which was fine. (2) The biggest issue was that the heating system was not working on a night when the temperature outside was 18 degrees, real feel. The room was 63 degrees when we checked in around 6 p.m. because the heater was off. We turned it on, set it to 71, and left for an event, assuming it would be much warmer in the room when we returned in 4 hours. The room was 64 degrees when we returned. Fortunately, there was a gas fireplace in the room and turning that on started warming the room up, albeit very slowly. (3) For a "premium" room, there were few amenities now considered standard, such as a coffee maker, etc., and (4) as others have noted, the breakfast was very bare bones and, horror of horrors, they ran out of coffee (this was at 9 am., breakfast ran until 10). A few people complained to the person at the front desk (the only staff around) and he tried his best to rectify the situation but was clearly nonplussed. In general, a fine but not great stay.

We stayed here for one night, choosing the hotel for its proximity to the Blue Cross Arena and the ease of access to and from the venue. The hotel itself has a lot of charm. We tend to prefer unique, non-chain hotels with character, and this one definitely had that appealing, vintage feel. Check-in was efficient, and the room rate was in line with what we expected for this type of accommodation. Unfortunately, our stay was marred by several issues—primarily related to noise and disturbances throughout the night. - Around 11:30 PM, just as we were settling in for the night, a loud and aggressive domestic argument broke out in the room next to ours. While this isn’t directly the hotel’s fault, it highlighted how thin the walls are—we could hear everything. We were nearly ready to call 911 before the occupants finally left. - The hotel fronts a busy road, and street noise—revving engines, motorcycles, and general traffic—continued well into the early morning hours, despite our windows being closed. - Noise from the on-site bar (two floors below us) was also audible until around 1–2 AM. - The next morning, the cleaning staff began working loudly in the hallway by 8:30 AM, which made it difficult to rest after a disruptive night. - Breakfast was disappointing: lukewarm coffee, bagels, and cold cereal. However, there was no milk available for the cereal, and no one appeared to be restocking supplies or overseeing the area. I’m torn between giving this stay 2 or 3 stars—ultimately giving it 3, somewhat reluctantly, due to the hotel's charm and location. That said, we wouldn’t stay again and would likely opt for one of the nearby chain hotels for a quieter, more restful experience.

“Decent stay, could use updating. ”

We were in Rochester for just one night to see a concert. Picked the Inn as it was close to the arena. From the outside the Inn looks very nice. The historic look of the building is very appealing. We were in Rochester for just one night to see a concert. Picked the Inn as it was close to the arena. From the outside the Inn looks very nice. The historic look of the building is very appealing. Staff were friendly and checked us in quick. We had a Comfort room, which was fairly big. The room was clean and comfortable, and had a nice view. The room could use some updating, as there was some wallpaper peeling, but that was the only issue. We were told to check out the speakeasy in the basement... we did, only to find out that last call was at about 11pm, which was too bad. Although there were lots of people still in the bar, we were basically just told to leave... which kinda sucked lol. Anyways, checkout was easy. Good stay, nothing too special though.
