An exceptional experience in a beautifully maintained and managed historic hotel. Upon our arrival the valet was gracious and the front desk was welcoming. We arrived late but one of the two restaurants in the hotel was still open and served an excellent Caesar salad with calamari. Our room was clean and beautifully designed, spa like bathroom with soaking tub, comfortable bed with luxury linens, nespresso coffee bar and a curated collection of in room offerings. This historic hotel has been preserved and perfected and delivers honest hospitality along with an exceptional experience.

I am giving this property five stars. With a caveat I will describe. The customer service at this hotel was incredible. The staff were absolutely amazing from the moment I arrived until the time I left. They were constantly checking on my family when we were in the public areas. The room was well appointed and spacious. Kept very clean. The attached restaurant (Nonna's) was also very good. Great service. Great food. Promptly delivered to our tables in a flawless manner. The lobby and rooftop bar was staffed by Rachel (sp?). Being blunt. The woman kicks ass. She is on it when you are at the bar. Waiting for any length of time (>30s) is not an option. Now the only downside. Which I have to believe can be easily addressed by hotel management and staff. No one could figure out how to control the HVAC system in our rooms. They were set very low. The room was freezing. The staff did not hesitate to bring more blankets for my 89 year old mother. But the more desirable wish would have been for a room at a comfortable temperature. Despite staff coming to my room and raising the temperature. The fan was constantly going. I was able to turn it off. Only to have it turn back on around midnight. If that can be changed. I would rate this an excellent property if one is wanting to stay near the Riverwalk without needing a view of it. Lots of other things to see in this part of San Antonio. This property is within walking distance for many of them. One last point. This is completely beyond the hotel’s control. There was (at this writing) a significant amount of road construction on the street in front the hotel. It is accessible with detours that may not be obvious to a rideshare or taxi driver unfamiliar with this part of town. The value and atmosphere of this property warrant serious consideration if downtown San Antonio is a destination.

An excellent find in the heart of the city. Truly charming, unique and well executed. Dares to be different, yet holds its class in the amenities, decor and execution. The bartender is one of a kind - Rachel! Created beautifully executed cocktails and shared her passion and knowledge with us that made our drinks even more special. We enjoyed the history, luxury and uniqueness of this hotel, including our room, bar and restaurant. Not often you get this kind of trifecta in one place!

Only have breakfast, but it was delivered city’s and decor very nice. Once there’s no construction around this hotel the secret will be out. Enjoy it now.
