We reserved 4 rooms at the Cathedral Valley Inn (CVI) for a guys hiking trip. Caineville is located between Capitol Reef NP and Hanksville. It’s well situated to the trails and sights in the area. Our farthest trip was Goblin Valley SP which was about an hour away from CVI. Capitol Reef is about a half hour west. Our rooms had 2 queen beds and had plenty of space. Owners Lei and Niki were very accommodating on our early arrival and stored our luggage in the office. They obviously take a great deal of pride in providing a clean, comfortable motel. We enjoyed talking with them. A light breakfast is provided (cereal, yogurt, bread/toast, fresh waffles, hot and cold drinks). There is no cell phone coverage in Caineville but the WiFi at the Inn was more than adequate for downloading maps, general internet and WiFi calling. A small coin laundry (2 washers/2 dryers) is on site. I recommend and would stay there again without a second thought.

“Nice, clean motel”

This is a nice and clean motel. The front desk staff was great. They were very personable and helpful with information about the area. They offer continental breakfast. Good value. 19 miles from Capitol Reef National Park. Closest restaurant is about 20 miles.

The hotel itself was fine, but it’s about a 20 minute drive to the nearest town for food, gas, etc. Breakfast is offered, but it didn’t seem to be a huge selection so we didn’t bother. “Comfortable stay in a small, family owned place near Capitol Reef National Park”

We booked a stay here because it was remote and we were hoping to star gaze after visiting Capitol Reef National Park (as their scenic view drive was closed for the summer.) Unfortunately, our stay here coincided with the summer solstice and a full moon so it was almost impossible to see any more stars than we normally see. Had it been a new moon or close to it, this would be a perfect place to star gaze, as it's in the middle of nowhere and there is no light pollution. We were greeted by Dakota and Leila when we checked in and Dakota gave excellent recommendations for places to eat in Hanksville (the closest town to this inn.) When we returned after dinner to inquire about the pool, they were both extremely helpful and friendly. There is wifi on site, but no cell service anywhere near here, so load your map before you leave. The rooms were comfortable and relatively quiet and we could back the car right up to our door, which made loading and unloading much easier. The curtains did not block out all the light, so I recommend a sleep mask if you come here. There is laundry (on the second floor of the motel) for $2 a load, but we did not use these facilities. We went to the pool for a bit in the evening, and it is older and had some leaves in it, but the lounge chairs were comfortable and there was a basketball net and that entertained my children so we were happy with it. If you swim, know that there aren't a lot of hooks to hang your wet suites and towels on, especially if there are 4 of you, like our family. When we woke up we enjoyed a very light continental breakfast of cereal, waffles, juice, and coffee. If you need to avoid gluten or sugar, it's best if you bring your own breakfast. My family loved the waffles though.
