I have traveled the world, been to some extraordinary hotels. The Colchester Residence Inn has the best staff of anywhere I have ever been, hands down! I had a family medical emergency, use a walker, was alone. Rich, who works the kitchen, personally served me breakfast at my table daily, wouldn’t even let me go back for anything, brought it to me at my table! Even baked some cookies just for me. A gem!!! The desk staff and maintenance man were fantastic as well. I’f something needed attention, was taken care of immediately. Hotel is old, worn but immaculate. Price was very reasonable. Would definitely recommend staying there instead of a fancy, higher priced hotel!!! Giant Pumpkin Weighing Contest in Colchester, 2-1/2 miles from hotel was an amazing experience!!! See photos….

“Great stay, great staff”

Lovely place to stay. Suites are very nice and modern and have all the amenities. Booked a studio for myself and a colleague and was able to get upgraded to a 1 bedroom suite because of my Marriott status. Room was nice and hotel very well kept. Lovely place to stay. Suites are very nice and modern and have all the amenities. Booked a studio for myself and a colleague and was able to get upgraded to a 1 bedroom suite because of my Marriott status. Room was nice and hotel very well kept. Margie was great at check-in and Jana helped with a couple questions I had during my stay. But the star of the show is Rich that works in the cafeteria. He says hi to everyone, makes sure all the food is stocked, floor and tables cleaned and also cracks jokes with the guests to keep the mood light. Rich is awesome. Pool was huge, but was a tiny bit chilly. Salt water pool too but that was fine. Just 3 degrees F too chilly. No problem though. Great stay and great property. Only minor issues are parking is a little strange with no direct access at the side of the building. Also hallways are long so it requires a little walking. Again, no problem for me but could be for others. To be expected given the huge size of the suites.

Originally I booked the Homewood Suites in Burlington because that is our go to hotel choice. A few weeks before traveling, I decided we needed a more affordable option as costs were escalating. I booked this hotel knowing it would not be as new and nice as the Homewood Suites but figured the savings would be worth it. I will say that for the most part I was relieved that it was better than I was expecting but it was not without some issues. First you should know that this a big property and the hallways can turn into long ongoing hallways and turning corners. Keep this in mind if you have any mobility issues. I would recommend asking for the first floor near the parking lot. The hotel shows most if not all of it's age in the hallways. The ceilings are low and the carpet is thin and worn and the floors creak like walking in an old house and they do this all the way down the halls. But once entering our Studio room, it was fine. The room had a modern leather couch and it was very clean. Having said that, there were a couple of negatives. The most insignificant was that the carpet from the bedroom to the bathroom was frayed but that was minor. What was not minor was that when the A/C unit kicked on, it sounded like a 747 was taking off in our room. That is no exaggeration, it was loud! During our 4 night stay, we made the trip over to Burlington a couple of times and I have to say that I was glad we ended up staying in Colchester. It was very easy to get to other places too like Stowe and we even took a day trip to Montreal. We had no issue with parking here like I read they have at the Homewood Suites in Burlington. It was an easy in and out every day and in a no traffic area - again unlike being in Burlington. It was very convenient and easy. We also went to Williston and I personally would stay there if I ever returned. It just had more to offer in the way of easy accessible restaurants like Chili's and Longhorn Steakhouse because going to a few places in Burlington, it was hard to find a place close to where we were eating and required more of a walk other than just pulling up and going in. I think going in knowing everything I mentioned you should be able to make a good decision about this hotel. I think the most important factor is knowing where your room will be before you accept it because again it is bigger than it appears and our walk to our room was pretty long.
