Holiday Inn National Airport and Crystal City is located a 5-minute drive from the airport, DCA, and the hotel runs a complimentary shuttle service every half an hour to the airport and back. The decor of the hotel is a little dated but it's functional. On the lobby level is the breakfast room and the restaurant and bar together with the conference rooms. On the first floor is the guest laundry and a small but well equipped gym. The rooms are nice but quite small, however they do have a working area and a microwave. It is a great airport hotel only moments away from the airport and from there you also get the metro system if you want to explore the town. Parking however is charged at $44 a day so not excellent if you want to explore by car.

“Park and Fly Shuttle a great Option.”

Four of us were flying out of Reagan VERY early in the am. We were concerned about traffic, parking, etc. So a knowledgeable traveler suggested a park and fly. Four of us were flying out of Reagan VERY early in the am. We were concerned about traffic, parking, etc. So a knowledgeable traveler suggested a park and fly. I have done that before and it wasn't a great experience but the others thought that was the best idea, so I did research and this property's shuttle and park and fly got the best reviews. Our driver Malaki was ACES! The front desk person told us he leaves at 4:30am so get there by 4:25...we got there at 4:10 and others were already waiting. We loaded up at around 4:15ish and were off by 4:20am. Not a full shuttle but close to it. We were dropped off first at Terminal 1 for a Southwest flight. Coming back into DC after our trip, we found the shuttle shelter and called the hotel. Shuttle was on it's way. It was freezing and snowing! And right on time Malaki was there in about 8 minutes! He assisted me in how I got the ticket for parking validated by the front desk since it was already paid for in the room charges. Smooth sailing with the shuttle! NOW, the hotel itself...not good. The staff was friendly and helpful when asked but so so many things are wrong with this property. Only one elevator bank was working. Rooms were limited so we got a kind with a pullout for us. The pullout had no bedding. We had to ask for sheets, blankets and pillows...all were clean and smelled fresh. The toilet was a nightmare. It wouldn't flush...we had to take the lid off and work figure it out. Then...it wouldn't stop running at times. The noise factor at 1am was very bad. We had to get up at 330ish to get ready to leave and that didn't make for a very restful sleep. The bed was comfortable, but the pullout was NOT. The thermastat was dificult until we got to a good setting and then it was ok. The room was clean enough, but well dated and in need of upgrades. There was a pub O'Malley's we ate. Nothing great, just basic, not a big menu. My opinion is IF you need to do a park and fly, feel confidant. Just be there early and in case there are a lot of others you want a spot on the shuttle. If I had gone at 4:25 as the desk suggested, we would have missed it. Everyone is very friendly and we felt like valued guests. There were NO spots to park when we got there, so I called the front desk and they said park in the "Diamond" spot. I was hesitant but she said it's fine park there. We did have some anxiety on our trip our car would be accidentally towed, since they didn't ask for a license number? but it was there safe and sound.
