“Fun Winter Snowmobile Trip in Yellowstone”

The lodge provided the perfect overnight spot for us to rest and refuel on our 2-day winter trip in the park. Room was lovely and there were cozy spaces to play games and enjoy a pre-dinner drink in the lobby. Be sure to make dinner reservations well in advance for the restaurant.

We were very lucky to have great snow conditions at this unique and extraordinary location! Employees are all very gracious, the food at Obsidian dining room was excellent, our 3rd floor room was fine. One minor quibble - water pressure in the shower was very low.

Winter in Yellowstone National Park is pure magic. With so few visitors during the colder months, the park feels incredibly peaceful and untouched. The geothermal features are absolutely breathtaking against the snow, and wildlife seems to appear around every corner - most often bison, but also pronghorn, mule deer, ravens, bald eagles, coyotes, and elk. Wolves are much more elusive, though their tracks can be spotted throughout the park. In winter, lodging options are limited to Old Faithful Snow Lodge (including its cabins) and Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel in the northern part of the park. I’ve stayed in the snow cabins before, but this trip I chose the lodge to enjoy the amenities and connect with other travelers. Each morning began with coffee by the large fireplace near the front desk - a perfect way to start the day. The lodge, built with beautiful wooden beams, has the cozy feel of a classic ski resort. The staff was exceptionally friendly, and the rooms were very clean. I recommend requesting a second-floor room, as we could hear the guests above us walking frequently. If you stay at Old Faithful Snow Lodge, you’ll need to arrange transportation by snow coach. It’s about a 3½-hour journey south from Mammoth. We flew into Bozeman, took a bus to Mammoth, and then continued by snow coach to Old Faithful. It makes for a full day of travel, but you’re surrounded by wildlife and stunning scenery the entire way. It feels less like a commute and more like a guided tour and history lesson of Yellowstone. I hope this helps those fortunate enough to experience Yellowstone in the winter!

“Quiet and relaxing”

Old Faithful Snow Lodge was a beautiful relaxing place. My only complaint is the dinner options are limited and the dinner food was not good. Breakfast was good. Defiantly suggest bringing your own snacks and sandwich/cold food. There are refrigerators but no microwaves. And bring your own ins… lisää
