Explorer cabins is just outside of the west entrance of Yellowstone NP. We stayed with 3 kids in a 2 br cabin with 1 king bed, and second bedroom with a twin bunk on top and full bunk on bottom. There is a small living room/kitchen area probably something like 8 by 10 feet of space. Kitchen has a very small electric stove that can fit two small pots, a very small dishwasher maybe 1/2 dice of a regular dishwasher, 4 forks, 4 spoons, 4 knives, 4 bowls, 4 plates and a mini fridge. It was kind of a pain to cook dinner for a family of 5. Also housekeeping does not clean your dishes or clean the kitchen area when they come to clean. They just replace the towels and empty the trash. The kids did like the s’mores bag provided and there is a communal fireplace nearby that turns on around 5pm. There is a washer dryer available for use for free but you do have to walk over to the hotel next door to access it. It is also across the street literally from the bear and wolf discovery sanctuary which was also convenient. It is much better though than staying in separate hotel rooms for a family which I appreciate and good parking right outside the cabin.

“Clean Cabins close to Yellowstone West Entrance”

Explorer cabins were very nice! VERY clean and comfortable beds. We had a Montana Cabin with kitchenette with a lot of supplies including a small ice maker. Explorer cabins were very nice! VERY clean and comfortable beds. We had a Montana Cabin with kitchenette with a lot of supplies including a small ice maker. The room was well equipedand wifi was good - although we did experience little bursts of lost electric on one morning - not sure why. Overall I would recommend due to it's location to Yellowstone, the cleanliness and the nice room. It is a little deceiving in the photos when you see cabins beyond the fire pit. Yes, there was a nice fire pit and even s'more packets in our room. Yet, your cabin really looks out on a street (with little traffic) and another hotel. It is quiet though. I do wish that they would list all costs on the website - there seemed to be an amenity fee (you can use pool, laundry etc in the main lodge) but I did not see that listed on my reservation. It is nice you have that option, but i would just like to know ahead the extra fees and taxes on my bill, since it seemed a bit higher than quoted (I guess the price on the confirmation is without taxes / fees). Plus a paved path from parking behind the cabin to cabin door would be great. Overall though a clean and comfortable place and well thought out (Walking sticks, flashlight, binoculars, board games, etc all for your use are a nice touch). Highly recommend.

We stayed at Explorer Cabins for 2 nights in July 2025 as a base for our Yellowstone National Park visit. On arrival the reception area was very busy, with only 1 member of staff on duty. Throughout the stay it seemed that this was the norm, the 2 members of staff we met were very helpful and polite. Both going out of their way to assist us, unfortunately the hotel just seems to be understaffed which puts undeserved pressure on the few who work there. Lee was incredible helpful early in the morning helping us to contact a tour company. Our cabin was fantastic, lots of communal space, a large bedroom, gas fireplace and 2 large TV’s. We didn’t use it but there was also a kitchenette. We were provided with s’mores kits to use at the communal fire pits in the evenings which was a nice touch. Another bonus was free laundry facilities for guests. We recommend running the tumble dryers twice though. We would definitely return.
