Limited accommodation/eating options so be prepared to pay a high price here. A one night stay only for us but in a Premium Room. Disappointed with our allocated room as on a lower floor with great views of the building below!! Asked to be moved to a higher floor which we were. These rooms have large picture windows so that you can see the scenery, but they aren’t tinted! Overall, we liked the room with the bed centred facing that view. Make sure you book the restaurant as I think it will be crazy in peak season. Buffet style but plenty of options. So… If you can handle the price go for the premium rooms as you get the view. This hotel is big with a strange layout & obvious it caters to busloads of Chinese tourists. Be prepared. Glad we went here but no need to go back.

“Overrated and highly priced”

We were a family of 4 with 2 kids. We stayed in premium rooms with 2 queen beds which were plush and new. Our other friends travelling with us had booked a standard room which were a complete shame. They were match box size rooms with a small narrow balcony. Completely claustrophobic.and these room… lisää

We were a family of 4 with 2 kids. We stayed in premium rooms with 2 queen beds which were plush and new. Our other friends travelling with us had booked a standard room which were a complete shame. They were match box size rooms with a small narrow balcony. Completely claustrophobic.and these rooms were super expensive for the price paid. The reception did not agree to change the rooms as they had no inventory. Some hotel wing is under renovation. Small supermarket inside. For vegetarians food is an issue if you dont opt for their buffet dinner. There are no restaurants around. Corkage of 50nzd chargeable if u get ur bottle to their bar. Its a shame premium rooms have no balcony. No pool, sauna jacuzzi. No other activities. Our stargazing show got canceled on both days due to bad weather so cant recommend on it. The show in their auditorium was great though. The hotel is highly priced for everything. I would recommend to stay in twizel and visit mount cook region to finish your activities. Specially for vegetarians. Never opt for their standard rooms.

Obviously, the Mt. Cook area was a life-changing experience. But the property, not so much. Very confusing layout, indifferent staff. The day was pouring rain, so we were confined to the hotel at first - no one's fault. But given the unpredictable weather, and the fact that there is literally nothing else in the area, the hotel should do a better job with the indoor activities. They even list things to do in the rain, but other than the (sorry, really dumb) suggestion to "curl up with a book," everything they offered (the museum, a movie, etc) had large sticker prices. Why not a nominal fee? Or just own the fact that, hey if it's raining, you're SOL.
