My husband and I stayed for 2 nights, our unit was very comfortable and warm with lots of extra little touches and also it was quiet. Great spot close to a beautiful restaurant with walking distance to the town centre. Andy was extremely helpful and went out of his way to help us with a helicopter flight. We would definitely stay again. Also Stella his off side would do her rounds to greet everyone.

This is a great motel. Andy the manager is one of the nicest and most helpful guys you will meet. The units are very generously sized, the beds good and the furniture comfortable. Sky TV, Nespresso machine and capsules fully stocked, tea, hot chocolate, little gift trays of biscuits, and a well appointed kitchenette for self-catering. Communal laundry with washing machine and drier was great to use to deal with wet weather gear after glacier trip. Above all, the units are very clean, and very warm, even in midwinter. Great to come back to after being out in the elements. Rainforest Motel is great value for money and the location is perfect. No road noise, but barely 2 minutes walk up the road and around the corner to the main street for bars and restaurants etc. Highly recommend Rainforest Motel.

“Great hotel, great location, would recommend for sure”

Stayed here in April 2025 with a friend. Our room had a living area and kitchen, which was great. Had everything you needed to make a meal (we made a little pasta meal one night). Stayed here in April 2025 with a friend. Our room had a living area and kitchen, which was great. Had everything you needed to make a meal (we made a little pasta meal one night). Kitchen had a Nespresso machine (which we loved), as well as other tea/coffee. Room was clean. Bed was comfy. Shower had great pressure and was clean. The town is small, and this hotel is perfect location to all restaurants and little corner/grocery store (5 min walk to most things). There is on site laundry and dryer for $2 NZD each. But seems like staff does use it to clean sheets as well, so can be busy at times. Parking is right in front of your own hotel door which was great. Cute little walk near by that you can go to at night to see some glow worms! (like 7 min walk away from hotel and the walk itself is a short 20 min loop).

“Great place to stay in Fox Glacier.”

Stayed here for two nights. I arrived a bit shell shocked as I had driven through some fairly awful weather and road closures but the temperature had increased by the time I got to the motel, and the wind had died down, and it had dried up a lot of the excessive rainfall. Stayed here for two nights. I arrived a bit shell shocked as I had driven through some fairly awful weather and road closures but the temperature had increased by the time I got to the motel, and the wind had died down, and it had dried up a lot of the excessive rainfall. The owner/manager was very welcoming and informative about local sights. The motel has rooms / apartments in about 3 small blocks laid out around a nice peaceful garden with some bird life, I saw Bell Birds there. If you are visiting Fox Glacier the shop is fairly limited but the cooking facilities in my room were great - microwave, hob, toaster and electric slow cooker - just a shame there was not much food to buy to cook! But that is not an issue for the motel to resolve. Everything was clean and not showing any signs of wear and tear. I also had a lovely new towelling robe in my room and it was one of the few motels I stayed in on my trip that had a bath sheet as well as bath towels. There was an effective heater on the wall, another in the bathroom and electric blankets on the beds. The bed was very comfortable. The shower was excellent. The TV had some Sky channels as well as Freeview, but also Netflix etc to log into if you wanted. This would be a good place to stay if you are planning on staying in Fox Glacier.
