We stayed 5 days last week with extended family in the penthouse on the top floor. The apartment was clean, well appointed and with enough room to fit the 7 of us :-) It is a 2 storey apartment with 2 bedrooms and one bathroom on the second floor. The place is close to the beach. The pool has inflatable toys the kids enjoyed to play with. Wifi was free. A huge thanks to Catherine who welcomed us and did her best to answer our questions from the moment we made the booking to the moment we left.

“Great apartment... better service”

Stayed here for two nights... this is not a full-service hotel I.e. no reception, but the manager Christine was there to greet us when we arrived. We booked a two bedroom apartment for two couples. Stayed here for two nights... this is not a full-service hotel I.e. no reception, but the manager Christine was there to greet us when we arrived. We booked a two bedroom apartment for two couples. The apartment was larger and better equipped than I had expected, with two full bathrooms, laundry and full kitchen with cooking facilities. Lovely views out over the pool area to the bay. Air-conditioning in the living room and both bedrooms was great. Room didn't have SKY TV but Christine asked if we wanted it and grabbed a decoder for us. She was very helpful and gave us some great travel tips and even gave us a lift in her car to the car hire place. She gave us some extra towels to take down to the beach. On our day of check out, our flight wasn't until 5pm, so she let us stay in the apartment as long as we liked. I would definitely recommend this place to stay if you are after modern, comfortable, convenient accommodation. I had initially booked to stay elsewhere but changed to Marinaview and was so pleased I did.

“Mmm $195 per night???”

Not worth the price. Met by Catherine who showed us to apartment 210, from the parking area. As a previous reviewer said no reception area. The 1 bed apartment appeared fine at first but on closer inspection proved to be not too clean, especially the shower which needs a lot of TLC. It's more like … lisää

The 1 bed apartment appeared fine at first but on closer inspection proved to be not too clean, especially the shower which needs a lot of TLC. It's more like paying to stay in somebody's apartment who's not too house proud, not a holiday rental. It wasn't dirty just uncared for. There was a tv in the bedroom which wasn't connected?? Thick dust on the shelves on the tv unit. Mouldy curtains. Dirty marks on the "leather" lounge. The bed was uncomfortable but not hard. Even hubby had problems with it and he can sleep anywhere. No little touches, instructions on the washer, aircon, cooker, tv, no tissues, shampoo. Clock radio in a drawer in the lounge. No credit card facilities. A bit strange! It was also hard to procure a receipt for the cash we paid. Try next door at the Portside hotel heritage collection. Maybe cheaper. Positives, wifi was good. There was a laundry. Apartment was spacious, secure parking and close to town.

It is not really a hotel but a group of apartments individually and privately let out and there were not any with a view, as owners occupied those ones I was told. Other TripAdvisor reviewers have spoken about wonderful views but we had none so it would definitely be worthwhile checking if the one … lisää

It is not really a hotel but a group of apartments individually and privately let out and there were not any with a view, as owners occupied those ones I was told. Other TripAdvisor reviewers have spoken about wonderful views but we had none so it would definitely be worthwhile checking if the one you were going to stay in had views or not (if views were important as they are for me). We were around the back on the opposite side to the Marina looking west not east. The place felt a little bit odd getting into the apartment as there is no reception and the public areas were open sterile spaces with a few plastic flowers. Once inside the apartment there was everything there that we needed and it was well fitted out. The place was clean and there was an outdoor balcony that we didn't use as it looked out into a concreted area with a raised swimming pool with no feel about the outlook. Over the house roof tops and on tip toes I could see a line of ocean from the western side of the apartment where the balcony was. There was no information about the place or town or even a map for a visitor from another country to look at. When I asked I was advised to go to the Tourist Information Centre which was not close by. Or to use the WiFi and Google. A few maps and information would have been appreciated. Other places we have stayed at had a folder available with useful information in it. We stayed two nights and enjoyed our stay in Gisborne where there were good walks, restaurants, wineries and attractions and useful information from the Tourist Information Centre.
