“Lovely hotel male bar staff let it down”

The hotel has had a recent revamp and the decor is lovely, we had a very large room with two very small doubles and 1 single as we were traveling as a family of 4. The hotel has had a recent revamp and the decor is lovely, we had a very large room with two very small doubles and 1 single as we were traveling as a family of 4. My husband is 6.3 hence my "very small double bed" comment. Our room was very nice and very clean, our bathroom needed work, the toilet wasn't great for flushing and the shower went very hot very quick without warning so not suitable for our two children. We had a 2 night stay the food was very nice the service was good, some very forgetful staff but it is very busy at present, definitely more staff needed, as a business owner I feel the bar staff let this hotel down, two very rude young lads here Saturday night, many guests quite annoyed, some of the pints of Guinness being poured were criminal, one small brown haired chap asked to turn on the darts for a guest behind us and he might as well being asked to walk through hot coal, his facial expression, his body language all bad, a guest should never be made feel awkward for asking something so simple, that same guest asked was his Guinness a zero as it was in a zero glass and the same bar man said "clearly not, u didnt ask for a zero" maybe I'm getting old but that's cheeky. Leisure facilities are great here, lovely gym and pool area and playground/crazy golf and basketball for children, the Courtyard is a lovely touch also.

We stayed here with a coach party for 1 night. I hate writing a bad review but our experience here was so different to the amazing hospitality and warmth we received at the other 2 hotels we stayed in on our visit to Ireland. We stayed here with a coach party for 1 night. I hate writing a bad review but our experience here was so different to the amazing hospitality and warmth we received at the other 2 hotels we stayed in on our visit to Ireland. The room was OK, nothing remarkable, clearly a family room with 2 x double beds and a single. The bathroom was basic. For dinner we were seated in the far end of the restaurant. After about 30 minutes, staff finally appeared to take our orders from a limited set menu. The staff were not overly friendly. Dinner was served, a lot if the meals were barely warm and not very nice. In contrast the bar later served wine that was warm. At 5.00am a fire alarm went off and when we were leaving at 7.00am the lifts were out of order. The accessible rooms were on the 4th floor and many of our party struggled to get down the stairs themselves, added to this they all had overnight bags. The security member of staff was advised of this in the hope that some staff were available to assist, however he was not interested. This is definitely not a hotel I could recommend despite its proximity to the ferry. Staff here are unhelpful and unfriendly. Rooms would benefit from a deep clean.
