“Quirky, charming, peaceful hotel!”

I had a bad experience at another hotel I booked for my stay in Porto de Galinhas, so after one night, I decided I needed to change hotels. We went to the main tourist area (Vila de Porto de Galinhas) and walked around looking at places while we were doing the “tourist” thing and all of a sudden, out of the corner of my eye, I saw this incredible place! I knew right away that this was just the sorta place my wife would love, so we asked if we could come in a take a look. CHARMING!!!! It’s a B&B (here, they call them “pousada”). The property is sugarcubed with various buildings scattered among lovely gardens filled with handcrafted artisanal decorations. Hibiscus, palms, orchids and other tastefully placed plants and fountains scattered throughout the property invite you to explore more and more. The owner showed us 3 different rooms that were available and each was more charming than the last. All the rooms are painted outside in lovely combinations of pastels that are tasteful and combine with the flora. Inside the property, there is a large and well-maintained swimming pool. All of the rooms are painted a clean white inside, and while some complain that the rooms are small, I prefer to think of them as cosy. The décor continues inside with handpainted accents on the windows and the doors. The room we selected had a very comfortable bed, a hot shower and cable TV (not that I even wanted to watch TV, because the hotel was sooooo beautiful!). The various colors of the rooms remind me of Old San Juan, Puerto Rico. The buildings appear to have been here forever and there is a harmony between the rooms, the gardens and the breakfast area. There is an old building that appears to have been partly destroyed by a tree, but they managed to recover the building and incorporate the old tree into the space, so you feel like you’re inside and outside at the same time. In the afternoons, they have coffee and snacks available in this structure. This is a family operation, but that doesn’t mean that it’s not run professionally, because it is! When we spoke to the owner about moving hotels, she said we could even move there at 9 AM (which we did!). The following day, we had the great pleasure of having breakfast, which is included in their very reasonable price (about $60 per night). The breakfast was beautiful! The area is also filled with rustic art and old furniture. The food is excellent and they offer things I’ve never eaten in any hotel here in Brazil (crepes made out of tapioca for example). They had scrumptious mocha cakes that were light as air and rich as could be at the same time! I don’t think there’s another hotel or pousada here in Porto de Galinhas that compares to this Pousada Porto Verde! The owners are great, the employees are friendly and the space is a happy dream! I can’t wait for an excuse to return here and enjoy all they have to offer another time! PS: if you don't like cats, this isn't the place for you, because they have tons of them! I like cats, so for me it wasn't a problem!

Very well looked after pousada. Friendly staff that helped us fixing some guided tours. Breakfast is simple but very tedious prepared, lavish fruits and juices, good coffee, ...
