A lovely, friendly hotel in a beautiful setting. All the staff went out of their way to make sure we were happy but, particularly, Marcella in the restaurant who was so happy and helpful to us about our onward travel. “A nice place if you want somewhere remote.”

This is a difficult one to feedback on as it continued to rain during our stay with the skies only clearing for 2 hours so that we could at least admire the views and walk around the grounds. This is a difficult one to feedback on as it continued to rain during our stay with the skies only clearing for 2 hours so that we could at least admire the views and walk around the grounds. The main building was very nice although our room was a little basic (who thought it a good idea to put a wardrobe in the bathroom, everything was already damp due to the rain as it was). In our view here and the nearby Arenal area are very similar in what they offer and would only recommned one or the other which on the basis that there is more on offer around Arenal it should be there and not the very isolated Villa Blanca. Others have mentioned the 30 minute drive over a dirt track to reach the hotel. This is correct but it really isn't a big deal.

“Peaceful and remote”

Very remote hotel. A little tired to be honest but we enjoyed our stay. Wonderful location for exploring the cloud forest. Our room was enormous with a wood fire and large bathroom/jacuzzi. Staff were helpful and friendly.

We stayed here for two nights on our tour of Costa Rica. That was long enough. There were very few guests and those that were there couldn’t wait to leave. We stayed here for two nights on our tour of Costa Rica. That was long enough. There were very few guests and those that were there couldn’t wait to leave. It wasn’t that the hotel was bad, there just wasn’t enough to do. We had a nature walk with a guide but the weather was so bad that we didn’t see very much … again not the fault of the hotel. There is a cinema with a large selection of films for when the weather is inclement. It was slightly annoying that the previous weekend there had been a big wedding and by the Wednesday after, the hotel had not restocked so they were “out” of quite a few dinks/ food items. It was very cold there and we had a log fire in our room which was cosy…it smoked a bit so we had to open the door for a while… rather defeating the object! The room was spacious and had a lovely bathroom. There was a problem with the hot water which turned freezing cold twice while I was showering…. and stayed freezing! The hotel was quick to try and put this right. The grounds are beautifully kept and rooms ( individual buildings) are spread out around the central reception/ dining room. There is a beautiful little church on site which is well worth a visit. The painted tiles on the ceiling are spectacular. Food was plentiful and portions are large. They serve an excellent breakfast.. Be prepared for a bumpy car ride to the hotel as there route is an unmade road and goes on for about 30 mins. Again, we were unfortunate with the weather ..rain is to be expected in these parts. Make sure you take warm clothing/ waterproofs and sensible walking boots/ shoes.
