We loved everything about this resort! It is located in a secluded area, set in the middle of lush gardens. Our room overlooked the beach and we could enjoy the crashing waves and sunset/sunrise from our balcony. The room, grounds, pools, and restaurants were all clean and inviting. Every single person working there from the bar and wait staff to front desk and housekeeping were super friendly and attentive. We enjoyed an afternoon massage (one of the best ever) and spent several mornings exploring the surrounding hotel area. So much wildlife to see including macaws, howler monkeys, and whales in the bay. The outlook and waterfall are worth a walk to as well. The only thing that maybe wasn't the best was that the main restaurant menu lacked variety. It was the same thing every night and most mornings at the buffet. But it was fresh and plentiful and the view of the ocean from the restaurant was amazing. Drinks were good too! We were looking for a relaxing retreat from the Colorado winter and found the perfect place. We look forward to going back.

“Living the Pura Vida at Tango Mar Beachfront Hotel”

My daughter and I spent a week in Cobano staying at Tango Mar. It was magical! Hilda (the owner) has built a true gem of a small resort, with a nice variety of room configurations, multiple pools, 2 restaurants and multiple bars, an amazing beachfront spa, and all contained in a gated resort area that features horseback riding, golf, a couple short but memorable on-property hikes, and of course - that SPECTACULAR beach! Pulling it all together to make it a truly memorable holiday was Hilda's team. Rosie, Gaudy, Kevin, Gerardo, Jordy - amongst the many outstanding staff - were so responsive and helpful that any question or wish we had was immediately and professionally attended to with care, a smile, and that always appropriate "Pura Vida" reply. We booked many of the off-resort excursions offered by Tango Mar - including snorkeling, ATV tour, Horseback ride on the beach, zip line canopy tour, and an amazing guided hike through Curu Wildlife Preserve. Not a disappointing moment was had amongst any of the outings which were all professionally guided and well organized adventures around the Tambor/Cobano/Montezuma region. And our days typically finished with some relaxing time spent in a hammock or lounging beside one of the pools, cool drink in hand, before enjoying a gorgeous sunset and a wonderful meal watching the surf rolling up on the beach below the restaurant. Hilda, who made a point of stopping to say hi and spend time with every guest every day, offers a remarkable holiday experience at her Tango Mar Hotel, and I highly recommend it. Whether you need to stop for a couple nights of luxe indulgence while touring Costa Rica, or you're looking for a place to call home while you spend a week in the sun forgetting about winter and work - this place is worth the visit! We have had a wonderful experience here at Tango Mar. Hilde the owner of the hotel has been ever present around this beautiful boutique property. The location, food and beverage is all excellent. The service too has also been excellent. Prices very reasonable and quality high. Special mention goes to Jordy and Saraf who have both been amazing but Jordy being our stand out superstar. Always attentive and going the extra mile. This resort is on its own private beach of around 400m in length. The resort is a cute relaxation spot perfect for people looking for a short stop whilst travelling through the country. We stayed in a beachfront deluxe and I will share a photo of the view. The view is to be believed. Stunning. All in all a very go recommendation by Trailfinders our agent.

Stayed at the hotel for a few days in the beachfront rooms whilst travelling around Costa Rica. The road down to the resort is best suited to a 4x4 and would recommend having a car so that you can explore the local areas. The hotel is set in a stunning beach, however not really for swimming. A few notes that may help you: Highlights: Wild beach - beautiful Free Parking Free Internet Welcoming host Large size bedrooms with large beds Reasonably priced dinner menu compared to local area Considerations: Rooms are very tired and need updating Very European hotel - lacks Costa Rica vibe Menu is very neat focused and only limited Costa Rican dishes Tennis courts etc are all extra Pools are small compared to size of hotel We only stayed a few days and then headed off to Santa hotel has immense potential, however we felt it was outdated and lacked authentic Costa Rica vibes.
