Lovely hotel, There is a national park right next door where you can go and see all sorts of animals from geckos to sloths monkeys and if you are very lucky, you might see a jaguar! . Accommodation wise there is not hot water in the showers, with a window along the top of the bathroom. The walls are very thin and you can hear everything that the person next door is saying. Over there are lots of things to see and do such as kanooing, night and day walks. Lovely pool with an amazing food at the restaurant, I recommend the cheeseburger I very much enjoyed my stay.

“Perfect place to start a Costa Rica adventure.”

A wonderful location to relax in as well as good bird watching and wildlife watching. Boat trips were enjoyable and very informative. Lodges were comfy and in a beautiful spot. “Costa Rica holiday”

Mawamba lodge hotel is fairly basic as in no tea/coffee facilities. No tv. WiFi does not reach some rooms, get an e-sim. It is tired looking in some areas, shutters broken, other hard to secure. Door knob very iffy, feels could come off in your hand. Mesh at top Windows, so can be cold and draught… lisää

Mawamba lodge hotel is fairly basic as in no tea/coffee facilities. No tv. WiFi does not reach some rooms, get an e-sim. It is tired looking in some areas, shutters broken, other hard to secure. Door knob very iffy, feels could come off in your hand. Mesh at top Windows, so can be cold and draughty Rains, as you would think in rain forest, need good rain shoes as does get muddy. One person in the Party likened accommodation to an up market shed. Hanging space consists of 3 hook, best to live out of suitcase. 3,days more than enough. Walls extremely paper thin. Noisy if you have a family next door. Feels like they are in the room with you. Especially if they are going on an early morning boat trip so could be up at 4.00am Ear plugs definitely needed at around 5.30 am boats start up and birds start singing too. No lie-in here. Mosquito spray is definite must, I even sprayed bed, as they can get in room no air-con either, room fan only. Bathroom draughty. No hair dryer. Nothing really dry’s either, things feel Damp including the toilet paper, even my book started to feel Damp. Only mirror is in bathroom too. . No iron etc in room maybe ask in reception. It’s not a dressy hotel at all. Bedside lights small cord and does not feel particularly safe. The whole place is poorly lit, rooms are dark in places. The restaurant is dark too. Torch is needed also helps you to find room which can be challenging. Bedding thin, was chilly did get a blanket. Staff can seem a bit stern and offish but did warm up. Would I stay here again probably not. Would I recommend hard one, it is an experience no frills place, food is not bad, no complaints. the boat tours are amazing. Saw sloths, toucans, howler monkeys, capuchin moneys, spider monkeys, water otters, crocodiles, Camen, iguanas and lots of birds. That is why you stay here for the nature not creature comforts.
