“Nice hotel - 100% gluten free!!”

We stayed for 2 nights at this hotel and ate at the restaurant both nights. It was an unexpected treat for me as the restuarant is 100% gluten free - it even has gluten free beer, and as I am a coeliac, it was lovely to be able to eat anything I wanted! The bedrooms are spotlessly clean and very ornately decorated. It was quiet at night, there is aircon and fans provided. There is a small balcony that overlooks the pool - which is a good size, and very nice to swim in. The staff were very friendly and professional, helping us to get a taxi when we needed to. It is quite formal (as other people have said) but not unpleasantly so - it was quite busy, so that created a nice atmosphere. It is off a busy road and it would be easier to see more if you have a car, although you can give taxis easily - they are quite expensive though.

“Beautiful location surrounded by wildlife”

We had a 2 night stay as a base for local activities. The hotel is small, boutique and colonial in style. Our room was well equipped, clean and with a terrace leading out to the garden and pool area. We played in the pool and sat and watched howler monkeys and capuchins. The food was outstanding in the restaurant. Staff were polite, attentive and friendly - especially the restaurant staff.

“Charmingly retro”

We stayed two nights in this hotel after coming down from the cloud forest, so our mood was immediately lifted by the warmth of the sunshine and the lure of the sea. We stayed two nights in this hotel after coming down from the cloud forest, so our mood was immediately lifted by the warmth of the sunshine and the lure of the sea. We were welcomed warmly with a cool drink and shown our rooms. These were a tad outdated with dark heavy furniture and carved angels everywhere (not surprising given the name of the hotel!) but clean and tidy. The bathroom was quaint and old fashioned, but charmingly retro. There was a flowery shower curtain over the bath and the hairdryer looked as it if had been made in the 1950's. But everything worked. The pillows were a bit lumpy so they might think about getting them replaced. The pool area was nice, set in greenery but with hardly any pool loungers (something else they need to address). The restaurant was gorgeous, and we had one of our best meals there during our three week trip - the ravioli with mushrooms and walnuts - fabulous! The staff were charming and helpful, always ready to fill our water bottles with iced water, on hand to sort out our broken safe. Uvita is a great little town and handy for the whale watching trips and nice beaches, plus one or two great eateries if you don't fancy the hotel food. A bar called Bavaria offers the best French fries and sandwiches! All in all, a nice little stay.
