Firstly, yes there is a motorway viaduct about 400m away and 200m above the hotel. Yes there is a Camino Albergue (hostel) attaches to the hotel. There is also a nature reserve and a river and a beech as well as the hotel bar and restaurant. The hotel team were exceptional at looking after me. They washed all my clothes from my days walking and they provided excellent service throughout the stay. The rooms are spotless and fresh throughout the hotel and the Albergue area too is similar. The food is local style and is very well prepared. I enjoyed the local dishes including a three course meal. Everyone speaks Spanish and one member of staff speaks french and some English. Google translate helped enormously. I would certainly stay here for multiple nights as the bed rooms are very cozy as are the public areas. I had a good nights sleep...... yes there is a motorway very close and yes you can hear it. Mainly I would say if your on an activities holiday then staying here is very very obliging. If your sat around expecting a swimming pool and five star sauna and jacuzzi with lots of holiday makers bumbling around then I would say look elsewhere. I am absolutely returning to hotel Canero on a cycling holiday in October 2019. It is cheap to stay out of season and you get well fed and cared for. I give this hotel 5 stars.

“Short stop over recommend”

We booked a whole week. Having read reviews no one seemed to make issue of the motorway spanning the valley next to us. We booked a whole week. Having read reviews no one seemed to make issue of the motorway spanning the valley next to us. The rattle of the vehicles as they drove on to the viaduct grid became intolerable after a couple of days. It sounds like a beer barrel rolling around all the time. We also had a room on the side which was musty smelling, probably from the laundry area below. Quite annoying as the rooms with balconies near to us were empty most of the week, so we felt that we committed to this hotel and had the worst room. It's a rural hotel with a hostel underneath, but cheap and the food is nothing special but you get quite a bit for your money. The WiFi works well although noticeably drops out when more guests in hotel. You can park easily and the beach is lovely 5 minutes walk. The beach has a bar and toilets. There's a supermarket down the road towards Luarca 10 minutes drive. We won't be going back but would advise anyone that more than a couple of nights isn't advisable. Staff were ok. Towels and bedding were damp because they dry them outside
