We were already about to give up plans of going to Cantabria, when our Spanish friends found the Posada el Hidalgo on the internet, where - as the posada had only just opened - there were some vacant rooms for us. It looked very charming on the web, but was even better in reality: located on top of a hill, next to a small church, the Posada is a wonderful stone-and-wood-building, beautifully furnished in a mix of antiquities and new design. The owner was amazingly nice, showing us around in the small village, helping us with our travel organisation etc. It was clear that this was more than a job for him, he was obviously enjoying himself. The breakfast was not included, but really nice, and pretty cheap for what we got. I travel a lot, but this was certainly one of the best places I have ever been to.

“Quiet, small hotel in a good location”

With only 6 rooms this is a traditional type of place. Clean, quiet and small rooms - but adequate for a few nights in this area. Breakfast in the bar downstairs (included) was typically bread, jams and wonderful coffee!! If you got up late enough there may be also be a couple of locals there. Nice… lisää

With only 6 rooms this is a traditional type of place. Clean, quiet and small rooms - but adequate for a few nights in this area. Breakfast in the bar downstairs (included) was typically bread, jams and wonderful coffee!! If you got up late enough there may be also be a couple of locals there. Nice outdoor area for meals (though October was too cool for that!) and we did not sample their menu. They will also make you up a packed lunch for 5 Euros. Language was a challenge - with only a little English/Spanish spoken by us and their staff! Our room was small and would have done with 1 more item of furniture - some drawers! but wardobe and suitcase sufficed for the 4 nights we stayed. All in all a pleasant place to stay with friendly and helpful staff. A good location

“It is just OK”

My husband and I stayed at Posada El Hidalgo for one night. Our room was a bit smelly. I dont think it was used for a long time. We had the top floor room. The owner was very friendly. Breakfast is not served until 9am. We had to leave by 8am, so sweet breakfast and juices were available to take wi… lisää

My husband and I stayed at Posada El Hidalgo for one night. Our room was a bit smelly. I dont think it was used for a long time. We had the top floor room. The owner was very friendly. Breakfast is not served until 9am. We had to leave by 8am, so sweet breakfast and juices were available to take with us. It was very much appreciated. Good location.
