“Peaceful oasis in the midst of torrential rain ”

This is definitely more of a hotel/guesthouse than a hostel although there are dorm rooms. As such, I probably wouldn't recommend staying here if you are travelling solo and want to meet people. This is definitely more of a hotel/guesthouse than a hostel although there are dorm rooms. As such, I probably wouldn't recommend staying here if you are travelling solo and want to meet people. But if you want somewhere clean, comfortable, relaxing and friendly, this is the place to be. The private rooms were massive, lovely bathroom with hot water and a cute communal area/garden. The staff are so kind, chatty and friendly, ready for all your needs and the hostel is well located within a short walk of the centre. There are so many restaurant/bar options within walking distance and the area to get the Willys (Jeeps) is very close by. Breakfast is served at another hotel/café a very short walk away. It was delicious with great fresh juice, fruit and eggs/toast/arepas, and included in the cost of my stay. The hostel can organise taxis to both Pereira/Armenia airports for 160.000 COP. This is probably a little on the expensive side but safe.

“Beautiful place with amazing service”

I can’t recommend this place enough. This hostel really felt like a home away from home during our time in Salento. My boyfriend was hiking Tolima for four days while I stayed in Salento due to a knee injury and I couldn’t have picked a better place to stay! The hostel itself is beautiful and quiet… lisää

I can’t recommend this place enough. This hostel really felt like a home away from home during our time in Salento. My boyfriend was hiking Tolima for four days while I stayed in Salento due to a knee injury and I couldn’t have picked a better place to stay! The hostel itself is beautiful and quiet with a lovely garden. The location is excellent - very close to the main town square, yet tucked away from some of the most busy and noisy touristy streets. The rooms are spacious, the beds gave us a good nights sleep, everything is clean and the showers are warm! The breakfast was also really nice, just a short walk down the road to a place where you get fresh juice, eggs, fruit and coffee. What really made our stay so lovely was Paola who runs the place with an amazing energy and warmth. She made us feel so welcome and helped out with everything we needed, from tours and rubber boots for the hikes to tips for places to eat nearby. The rest of the staff were also brilliant, including Isabel who took me on an amazing coffee tour of her family’s coffee plantation! Would easily come back and stay even longer!

Basic but clean hostel. They have a nice breakfast area (breakfast is not so great) and the person at the front desk is very very helpful. The location is great, a block and half from the plaza Bolivar and the restaurants and shopping on Carrera 6. But, basic it is. Bathrooms are small (BYO soap and shampoo!) and the room we stayed in (one double bed) was cramped (the dormitory rooms looked more spacious). The windows are wooden shutters, don't keep the street noise out, and it can get chilly at night (borrow a blanket from the front desk). WiFi is spotty (won't work in the rooms) but that seems to be par for the course in Colombia. I guess it is what you should expect at that price point but I can't help but think that it would be an excellent hotel with a bit of investment! All that said, given the general standards of hotels that are near the plaza, this may be the best place to stay. We took a look at an excellent hotel (great views, great rooms) that is just outside town but I wouldn't want to walk to it late at night. Book this but ask for a room that faces the back rather than the street or, splurge a little and stay in one of the family rooms.
